Backlog Conquering - Anthem On PS4 - Part 10

Welcome to Backlog Conquering. This is a series were i play a game from my backlog that i may or may not have played before. the goal isn't necessarily to finish the game, the goal is to play it. that way, i can have an opinion about it.

Our new game is the PlayStation 4 version of Anthem. i have previously played around 5 hours of this game back in 2019, but i stopped playing once EA announced they weren't going to update the game. The main reason for picking up Anthem now is that the game servers are going to be turned off on January 12th 2026. I started recording these videos before the servers were taken down so from Part 5 onwards, these will go live on YouTube AFTER the servers have been shut down. You can't play Anthem anymore as the game doesn't have an off-line mode, it was online only.

Unfortunately, this is more like Part 10 B. i lost the first part of this video when my recorder crashed. so at the start of this video i do try to explain what happened in the story up to when this video starts. i recorded this the late into the day Anthem's servers were going to close. i had hoped this would be the final part, but right at the end the game forced me to do yet another quest once again delaying my progress. I do end this part at the point of no return where i can choose to do the end game. but you'll have to come back and see if i had enough time for one more part or if this was my final Anthem video.

Backlog Conquering - Anthem On PS4 - Part 9

Welcome to Backlog Conquering. This is a series were i play a game from my backlog that i may or may not have played before. the goal isn't necessarily to finish the game, the goal is to play it. that way, i can have an opinion about it.

Our new game is the PlayStation 4 version of Anthem. i have previously played around 5 hours of this game back in 2019, but i stopped playing once EA announced they weren't going to update the game. You can't play Anthem anymore as the game doesn't have an off-line mode, it was online only.

I had hoped that the game's stopping our progress in the story was over, but unfortunately it happened again in Part 9. to progress the story this time, a new character was introduced and we had to do tasks for her. it was obvious that she wasn't telling us the whole truth so when things went south it wasn't much of a surprise. By the end i was invested in what was happening and then it's dropped by the game. i wanted to know where they had been, how long it had been for them, what happened that day, and yet the game says thanks for saving them, gives us the item we need, and moves us along. i ended this part going shopping and still needing some items to continue the games story. at the very least, this pause in the story was handled and integrated into the main story better than what happened in parts 7 and 8.

Backlog Conquering - Anthem On PS4 - Part 8

Welcome to Backlog Conquering. This is a series were i play a game from my backlog that i may or may not have played before. the goal isn't necessarily to finish the game, the goal is to play it. that way, i can have an opinion about it.

Between Parts 7 and 8 i think i spent around 3 hours NOT doing story stuff because the game forced me to engage with the online multiplayer open world. so the start of this video are my attempts at completing the tasks required of me before i can enter tombs. but once i got that part done, i was back into the story and it got quite exciting by the end. i was lucky that i had help from some random players as there were some tough story moments in this video.

Backlog Conquering - Anthem On #PS4 - Part 7

This was done with my backup recording on Mini Disc.

I started Part 7 with a side quest before moving back to the game's story and looking for tombs. what i didn't anticipate were the challenges that had to be done to unlock the tombs. i thought that it would've been related to story and things i've done in that but it seems that for at least two of the tombs i needed to have done things online or things in the game's world. so the rest of this video is my attempts at completing the needed challenges, but finding it quite difficult. So this will continue into Part 8.

Backlog Conquering - Anthem On PS4 - Part 6

Welcome to Backlog Conquering. This is a series were i play a game from my backlog that i may or may not have played before. the goal isn't necessarily to finish the game, the goal is to play it. that way, i can have an opinion about it.

Our new game is the PlayStation4 version of Anthem. i have previously played around 5 hours of this game back in 2019, but i stopped playing once EA announced they weren't going to update the game. I had unlocked Strongholds in Part 5 and started Part 6 trying out the first one. unfortunately, i couldn't do it. it was just too tough. but i did try a few times and learned/remembered about the Wind Wall ability i had. after that i completed a few contracts before trying Strongholds again, thinking that i would be trying a different one, but it ended up being the one i had tried earlier and once again i failed. I ended up finishing this part by completing more contracts for Yarrow and Matthias. hopefully this'll open up things in future parts and i can focus on the story in Part 7.

Backlog Conquering - Anthem On PS4 - Part 5

Welcome to Backlog Conquering. This is a series were i play a game from my backlog that i may or may not have played before. the goal isn't necessarily to finish the game, the goal is to play it. that way, i can have an opinion about it.

The main story brought our past back and it was tense all round. it was nice and felt believable. the tension it brought to Owen was also interesting, who had his own adventures in this part. But what ruined the moment was when we were on their Strider and the mission finished and we all spawned back at the Fort. there was no mention of this before we spawned, nor any video showing us making our way to the fort. we haven't even seen the "car park" for Striders at the fort. it felt disjointed and ruined the moment.

Backlog Conquering - Anthem On PS4 - Part 4

Welcome to Backlog Conquering. This is a series were i play a game from my backlog that i may or may not have played before. the goal isn't necessarily to finish the game, the goal is to play it. that way, i can have an opinion about it.

Our new game is the PlayStation 4 version of Anthem. i have previously played around 5 hours of this game back in 2019, but i stopped playing once EA announced they weren't going to update the game. The main reason for picking up Anthem now is that the game servers are going to be turned off on January 12th 2026. With the servers turned off, the game will be unplayable as there's no offline mode.

In Part 2, there wasn't a lot of time to explore and do more than the main mission. so from Part 3 onwards i'm going to make these videos a little longer, maybe up to 2 hours, to allow myself time to do a main mission, do a side mission, and do some exploring.

In this part i got access to the Launch Bay, an online hub of sorts for players of Anthem. when i arrived there were a couple of others who seemed AFK. But, i don't know how useful it actually is. i might've missed it but i don't know how it connects to our story in Anthem, nor where is it in the base we're situated at. it felt tact on so i didn't use it much and i don't know if i'll use it much going forward. you'll have to let me know how best to use it in the comments.

Backlog Conquering - Anthem On PS4 - Part 3

Welcome to Backlog Conquering. This is a series were i play a game from my backlog that i may or may not have played before. the goal isn't necessarily to finish the game, the goal is to play it. that way, i can have an opinion about it.

Things opened up more In this part. we saw more players online and had 2 join us for our side mission. they were much higher level than me so they made quick work of the task. the game revealed more of it's online components, but they felt tact on rather than integrated into the game's story. the same can be true with the online store, it didn't really seem to add much to the experience. i don't know how much i'll interact with these online features as i'm here for the story as i'm finding it interesting.

At the end of Part 1 we were assigned a mission to find someone so we start this part with that mission. what was fun was someone joining our game. they were quick and dealt with the enemies faster than us. After that i did a mission from an NPC, and also explored the local area whilst doing it. This Part ends with us getting a brand new assignment.

EA And BioWare Have Released The First Teaser Trailer For Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, Reveal New Release Date

EA and BioWare have released the debut teaser trailer for Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. the cinematic trailer also ends by confirming the game has been delayed from it's original release date of end of 2013 until Fall 2014. when it was originally announced, no platforms were revealed and i suspect this delay of nearly a year means the game is coming to PS4 and Xbox One and has been moved to a next gen engine.
