EA and BioWare have announced a free to play option is coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic this fall. this free to play option will give players the chance to play as 8 character classes and level up to 50. unlimited game access will be made available through individual purchases or through a subscription option.
So from fall, there are two different ways to play Star Wars: The Old Republic:
Subscription – A service designed for players who want unrestricted access to all the game features via ongoing subscription or by redeeming a Game Time Card. In addition to gaining access to all game content as our current subscribers do now, subscribers will receive ongoing monthly grants of Cartel Coins, the new virtual currency that will be introduced later this fall. Cartel Coins can be used to purchase valuable in-game items including customizable gear and convenience features that will enhance the game play experience.
Free-To-Play – The first 50 levels will be Free-to-Play, with restrictions on access to new content and advanced player features. Some restrictions can be “unlocked” with Cartel Coins.
This week Yahtzee plays The Amazing Spider-Man, the movie tie-in game. it's been a while since an epic Spider-Man game was released but will this new approach work or will it just end up being another also ran game?
Funcom have announced the first update to The Secret World is out now. these updates are called Issues and the first Issue brings new investigation missions (questing) to the game. the marketplace now lets you trade with players in other dimensions.
Funcom have also announced that The Secret World will be free to play this weekend. from 4PM GMT on 3rd August until 7AM 6th August, anyone can sign up and play The Secret World for free. if you had an account with the game that has now expired, including Early Access and Beta Accounts, you can log back in with your information.
There is an in-game promotion also live during the weekend. every character will get fireworks, and there is a in-game challenge. complete 30 in-game missions and help those in need and recieve a special in-game t-shirt and 1200 bonus points.
Frima Studios have announced Lights, Camera, Party! for the Playstation 3. this Playstation Move party game is set to come out on 28th August on the PSN. the game makes use of 1 Playstation Move controller and lets you play as the Funzinis. they're a family who have been forced to compete in game shows to win a new home. you compete in 5 rounds, modelled after a type of tv show, and 24 mini games, in all the game has 50 mini-games. the game supports up to 8 player multiplayer.
Ubisoft have released a new trailer for Marvel Avengers Battle For Earth. this is a cinematic trailer that introduces the Avengers and some of the enemies they'll be fighting. the trailer also offers a little tease at the end.
Tequila Works have released a launch trailer for Deadlight. Deadlight is part of the Xbox Live Arcade Summer Of Arcade and the game is a zombie puzzle platformer. the trailer uses in-game action to show zombie action as well as some platforming.
