About Green Day
Green Day (Music & Lyrics) – vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool – were kids from working-class backgrounds who came of age in the underground punk scene in Berkeley. Even though they had released two records prior (1039 / Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk), they announced their arrival with 1994's Dookie, a dynamic blast of exuberant punk-pop that sold 15 million copies and earned the band its first Grammy® Award for Best Alternative Music Performance. Over the years, Green Day continued to top the charts with their subsequent studio albums Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning, while entertaining millions of fans with their frenetic live shows. But it was their landmark 2004 album American Idiot that launched Green Day into the stratosphere. American Idiot debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, earned seven Grammy® nominations (winning two, including Best Rock Album), and raised the bar for modern rock and roll. Last year, Green Day released its new album 21st Century Breakdown, which won a 2010 Grammy® Award for Best Rock Album. It spawned two hit singles: the gold “Know Your Enemy,” which was the first song ever to top Billboard’s Rock, Alternative, and Mainstream Rock charts simultaneously, and the platinum “21 Guns,” which earned them three 2009 MTV Video Music Awards including Best Rock Video. Green Day also took home an American Music Award for Favorite Alternative Rock Music Artist. For more about the band, visitwww.greenday.com.

Harmonix Announce A Big Rock Band 2 Update On The Playstation 3
The Blog Post says the Update Includes:
- "Sort by Stars” in Quickplay. If you hit the “Sort” button on the Song Select screen, you’ll come to a brand new sort that orders songs by the star ratings that you’ve achieved on each song. Each star rating gets a category, as well as an “Unplayed” category for songs that don’t have a star rating recorded. Finally, you can record your progress towards gold starring every song in your library!
- Improved “Sort by Stars” fix: Players will not have to beat a previous high score to record a star rating for their songs.
- Chord HOPO improvements: If you’ve played The Beatles: Rock Band, you’ll notice much more robust handling of chord hammer-ons and pull-offs. This patch implements those changes in Rock Band 2 to provide a more natural chord hammer-on/pull-off experience.
- Velocity Sensitivity on Ion Drum Kits: Ion Drum kits now support velocity sensitivity in both drum fills and Drum Freestyle mode.
- Rock Band Network Store Support: When the Rock Band Network goes live, select songs will be available for PlayStation 3 users through a new storefront available in game. Stay tuned for more information closer to the launch of RBN!
- SingStar Wireless Microphone Support. Rock Band 2 now supports the SingStar Wireless Microphones currently available through Europe! Finally, you can now have a fully wireless Rock Band experience on your PlayStation 3!

The History Of The Beatles Rock Band Commercial Is Discussed
"After winning the job, Langenegger was granted access to the actual Abbey Road archives. In London, he worked closely with the agency and Apple Corps to source archival footage enabling him to bring the actual 1969 Beatles back to appear in the commercial.
Over the course of production and post, Langenegger would meet with Apple Corps at the highest levels, collaborating with Giles Martin (son of Beatles producer Sir George Martin) who produced the title’s music, and ultimately gaining the approval of McCartney, Starr, Olivia Harrison, and Yoko Ono, at several stages of the project's development.
The two-month endeavor involved GARTNER recreating Abbey Road in Hollywood. “Everything we shot was based on specs from the original day,” says Carter, adding that the input of all parties was extremely constructive and helpful. “We presented body doubles for The Beatles, for example, and Marcel wanted them to be just right. The double for George was changed based on input from Olivia Harrison.”
“The first 24 hours online were crazy,” says Carter of the grassroots response to the ad, which aired live during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on September 13th and is part of a Global campaign continuing through the holiday season. “The Beatles have been introduced to a new audience and a new generation. It’s an honor for all of us to be a part of that.” "
Press Release
SANTA MONICA, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Nov 03, 2009 On September 9, The Beatles Rock Band game was launched with a :30 television commercial produced by GARTNER and directed by Marcel Langenegger.
Created via RDA Integrated in partnership with MTV Games and Apple Corps. Ltd., “Abbey Road” utilizes state-of-the-art technology and never before seen archive footage to bring the 1969 Beatles legendary album cover to life with John, Paul, Ringo and George joined by hundreds of adoring fans.
The game’s success (it sold out one quarter of its inventory the first week) and its steady climb in sales (the game is outselling Guitar Hero 5) is no revelation. What hasn’t been told until now is the story behind the production of “Abbey Road.”
The adventure began in June, at E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo) in Los Angeles, where Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr made guest appearances. GARTNER Partners/Executive Producers Don Block and Rich Carter and director Langenegger were there as well, and embarked on the first of many, many meetings with the team behind The Beatles Rock Band game.
RDA was aware of Langenegger, whose ’08 feature debut, “Deception” (20th Century Fox), starred Hugh Jackman and who has helmed notable spot work for Mercedes, Intel, Nissan, Microsoft, and Doctors Without Borders, for which he won a Gold Lion at Cannes. It would take more than a great reel, however, to best the competition and nab the assignment. “Marcel really impressed the team with his amazing depth of knowledge about the Abbey Road shoot,” recalls Block.
After winning the job, Langenegger was granted access to the actual Abbey Road archives.

PSP system owners will also have the option of purchasing tracks via PlayStation®Store on the PC.
The first 10 DLC tracks that will be available in the Rock Band Unplugged music store starting June 9, 2009 are listed below.
• 30 Seconds to Mars “The Kill”
• Belly “Feed the Tree”

Rock Band Unplugged creates a full band experience in the palm of players’ hands by combining traditional beat-match gameplay with key elements from both Rock Band and Rock Band 2, such as overdrive and chords. The hands are the “peripherals” in Rock Band Unplugged, allowing players to take direct control of the lead/bass guitars, drums and vocals. Players can expect an in-depth Rock Band experience with fully functional modes, like World Tour, Band Survival and Warm Up, as well as a robust character creator for full rocker customization.
To commemorate the debut of the Rock Band franchise on the PSP system, Sony Computer Entertainment America plans to release a limited edition Rock Band-branded PSP Entertainment Pack at the launch of Rock Band Unplugged. The bundle will include the game, a “Piano Black” PSP system, a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo™, and, in the United States only, a voucher to download Paramount Pictures’ School of Rock from PlayStation®Store.
Rock Band Unplugged is developed by Harmonix in partnership with Backbone Entertainment, a Foundation 9 Entertainment studio, and is distributed by Electronic Arts. The game will retail for £29.99 in the United Kingdom.
