Press Release

Tuesday June 26th 2012 – 2:00PM UK – Today Codemasters® announced that F1 ONLINE: THE GAME has entered open beta. F1 ONLINE: THE GAME is the fun new free-to-play online racing and management browser game in production at Codemasters Racing Studios under exclusive worldwide agreement with Formula One World Championship Limited. Players are invited to log on to www.F1OnlineTheGame.com to create their own team and join in multiplayer races today.

To mark the launch of F1 ONLINE: THE GAME into open beta, Codemasters has premiered the first gameplay video at www.F1OnlineTheGame.com. The trailer shows officially licensed FORMULA ONE™ teams racing around iconic tracks including Monaco, Spa and Silverstone in multiplayer races. The video also reveals how players can create their own racing team, directing the development of their HQ and customising and upgrading their car.

F1 ONLINE: THE GAME combines intuitive top-down racing gameplay with an accessible and fun management game. Players will compete in online multiplayer races across a range of game modes, including GRAND PRIX™ events, Championships and a range of quick-fire challenges and Time Trials. Wheel-to-wheel racing comes alive across a range of custom and licensed circuits, as players use simple controls on track and become the boss of a racing team off it.

To lead their team to victory, players will choose how to develop their team HQ and create, customise and upgrade their very own racing car. Gamers will decide their team name, create a team emblem, choose a livery for their car and pick the colour and design of the driver’s helmet. In the role of team boss, gamers can also research and produce a range of car components, including upgrading the gearbox, brakes, KERS, rear wing and engine, to improve their performance on race day.

From Codemasters, the publisher of the BAFTA award-winning series of official High Definition FORMULA ONE Games, F1 ONLINE: THE GAME is being developed using the Unity game engine to deliver stunning performance in a web browser.
