Sony And Media Molecule Announce Little Big Planet 2 Is Coming Exclusively To The PS3 This Year

Media Molecule and Sony have revealed Little Big Planet 2 for the Playstation 3 and announced that it is coming out this year only on the PS3. They have also announced that all the levels created in Little Big Planet, and currently there are over 2 Million of them, are playable in Little Big Planet 2.

Media Molecule reveal that the searching system is getting a total overhaul, with additions like a activity stream so you can see what your friends are playing and what your hearted creators are building. They are also making it more accessible, providing a web site for every creator and every level. you will be able to browse levels, add them to your queue to play later, and much more via this website.

Little Big Planet 2 also comes with new things to add to your levels. Sackbots can be shaped and tweaked, and you have the choice to even record behaviour for them. New camera tools have been added to give a better cinematic experience for your level, or they can be used to create short films or music videos. You will have the ability to choose how a controller is used in a level and what buttons do what.

In an effort to reduce the amount of logic systems needed, circuit boards have been added to the game. for example, the calculator level created in little Big Planet was made up of over 100 pistons, in Little Big Planet 2 this can be boiled down into 1 microchip, freeing up the thermometer for other things. Circuit boards can be any size and take as many switches as you want them to.

Sackboy has also been given other tools to use, for example he now has a grappling hook, that can be used when he jumps, as well as new bounce pads. Media Molecule are teasing future surprises and reveals for the game and Sackboy.

What Have You Played This Week?

Managed to play a lot more this week. I even got back the game that killed my old PlayStation 3, for those who are new my launch PlayStation 3 died when I tried to play IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey. This is a rented game which also means i've not played much recently as i've been waiting to get it back from Sony. It got to me when Sony said it would, and I'm determined to finish it quickly as my rent games list on Swapgame just keeps getting longer.

Football Manager 10 – PC – well finished 2nd in my second season in the premiership. Again my team is getting stronger, but with Annan its taking time as I still can't offer high wages, but thankfully a new stadium and improved training/youth stuff is making it a bit easier.

Uncharted 2– PS3 – I only played the online part of the game. Its plenty of fun, and the maps have soo much to offer. Thankfully there are loads of people playing the game, but I have come across a few with dodgy connections and in some games people just seemed to be dropped.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey – PS3 – Yep, I got the game back that killed my last PlayStation 3. I got much further this time, getting through the tutorial fine. Graphically its fairly impressive and it makes great use of vibration in the Dual Shock 3. there appears to be no one playing it online, so i've focused on the single player stuff. The campaign is straightforward, complete tasks to continue and unlock sutff. Ai for the most part is decent in campaign, but there are times when the Ai is either too good or not good enough. It's fun to play and educational, for those unfamiliar with air warfare in World War II. It'll take a while to complete, but the trophies are unlocking regularly and the unlocked stuff in game has some incentive to continue.

Halo Reach – Beta – Xbox 360 – I played a fair bit of the Beta, playing slayer matches, and ultimately it feels a lot like Halo. Some of the control changes took an age to get used to, like using the RB to melee and not B, but ultimately it does control well. Graphically there is a noticeable improvement, but not perhaps as big as an improvement as it needs, especially when you compare it to games like Killzone 2. the new loadouts do make it interesting, but only when you get used to using them. I use the jet pack a lot to shoot from above and land on top of them where I melee the opponent. This usually kills them. Others are using the cloak great in sniping positions. The defensive one is pretty hit and miss I find with people either using it or coming across someone using it. I have no idea what its like to talk to people with this game. Like most online games, I do not use a headset...especially on the 360, but from what people are saying on podcasts and such...ot certainly doesn't sound like things have improved.

Bookworm Adventures – PC – my parents had a cleanup and found this game. I had played Bookworm a long time ago and thought i'd give it a try. I think this is a brilliant game. It is shown up by its age, in terms of graphics, but the gameplay is simply addictive and fun. Its a great RPG and you can see how games like this spawned bigger games like Puzzle Quest.

what have you been playing this week? feel free to add your weeks gaming selection in the comments, or you can comment on the game i played this week.
