TimeGate Announce Section 8 Is Coming To The Playstation 3 This Spring Via The PSN

TimeGate have announced that Section 8, which had previously only been available on the Xbox 360 and PC, is now coming to the PS3. the game is coming to the PS3 this spring and it will be a digital release on the PSN.

TimeGate have also announced that the PS3 version will have 3 exclusive maps, not found on any other release, as well as other improvements over previous versions. The game will come with a Single Player campaign, a instant action mode, and a multiplayer mode where up to 32 players can be fighting on a single map.

Press Release

SUGAR LAND, Texas --(Business Wire)-- Feb 16, 2010 PlayStation®3 system fans will get their chance to “burn-in” and join the fight on Section 8, TimeGate Studios’ sci-fi multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS). Section 8 gives players an unprecedented amount of strategic control by introducing groundbreaking approaches to FPS gameplay with dynamic in-game objectives, customizable loadouts and deployable equipment.

The PlayStation®3 system version will ship with a full single-player campaign, instant action mode (with full bot support) and a robust multiplayer mode which includes 11 multiplayer maps, three of which are not included at retail on any other platform. Expect extensive improvements when the full version of the game becomes available for purchase and download on Sony’s PlayStation Network in Spring 2010.

Section 8 is the first title on the PlayStation®3 system to include support for TimeGate Studios’ proprietary TGNServer technology, which allows gamers to host 32 player games from their home PC. Players can configure map rotations, change server variables and set a remote admin password to administer the server in-game.

Section 8 caters to FPS players with two genre-changing features: “burn-in” spawning and dynamic combat missions (DCMs). Burning-in effectively ends spawn-killing by allowing players to drop anywhere on the map from 15,000 feet in real-time. DCMs add a new layer of unpredictability to multiplayer matches with mission objectives activated in real-time.

“Section 8 will be an unforgettable experience for first-person shooter fans on the PlayStation®3 system since there’s nothing quite like it on the PlayStation Network,” says Adel Chaveleh, CEO, TimeGate Studios. “We’re sure fans will agree that Section 8 is a breath of fresh air for gamers tired of stale, ‘me-too’ multiplayer first-person shooters that fail to innovate.”

Gamers can view game stats, manage clans and track individual leaderboards with a quick trip to the robust Section 8 website, http://www.joinsection8.com/.

Section 8 will be available on the PlayStation®3 system in Spring 2010 on the PlayStation Network. For more information on the Section 8, please visit http://www.joinsection8.com/

Press Release

BURBANK, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Feb 16, 2010 Disney Interactive Studios today officially announced development of Toy Story 3: The Video Game, supporting all major platforms and featuring a fun, new way to enjoy the Toy Story universe. Unveiled at the American International Toy Fair in New York City by Mary Beech, general manager and vice president of franchise development and marketing for Disney Consumer Products, Toy Story 3: The Video Game will feature film adventures along with Disney’s first open-world gameplay for kids. Inspired by the upcoming Disney•Pixar animated film, Toy Story 3: The Video Game is due on retail shelves June 15, 2010.

As Beech discussed at Toy Fair, Disney Interactive Studios is revealing a new gameplay mode called Toy Box. A primary feature on Toy Story 3: The Video Game console offerings, Toy Box is a virtual box full of toys. With an open-world sandbox-style of play, Toy Story 3: The Video Game taps into the beloved franchise’s humor and brings fans into the toys’ world to create their own unique story. The game’s developer, Avalanche Software, is working in close collaboration with filmmakers at Pixar to create an authentic Toy Story experience that inspires imagination and celebrates the joy of play.

“Toy Story 3: The Video Game addresses a fact understood by every kid: imagination is what truly brings toys to life,” said John Blackburn, vice president and general manager of Avalanche Software. “That’s really what a toy box is about. We remember that kind of play from our own childhood, and it’s where we began as game designers. With this title, we want to encourage and reward creativity in others.”

Designed to replicate the universal experience of playing with toys as a kid, Toy Box mode brings cowboys, space rangers, dinosaurs, and little green aliens together to create adventures only possible in a child’s imagination. Kids, families and fans will dive into Andy’s toy box with creativity driving their own stories and adventures.

“With Toy Story 3: The Video Game, audiences will have multiple ways to experience and enjoy the Toy Story world,” said Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “Story Mode follows the film’s story and adventures, while Toy Box Mode gets to the playful heart of the Toy Story franchise. By combining the power of imagination with the Toy Story universe, the game appeals to the joy of play in all of us.”

Embracing the adored and inspired fun of the Toy Story franchise, Toy Story 3: The Video Game features a story mode that follows the Toy Story 3 film adventures in which Buzz, Woody and friends grapple with their uncertain future as Andy prepares to depart for college. In addition to the Toy Box mode, the console versions put the toys in non-film related environments and situations such as light videogame combat with Buzz Lightyear. The handheld versions bring the Toy Story fun with fans wherever they go.

Toy Story 3: The Video Game will be available on all major video game platforms on June 15, 2010 on Wii™, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Windows PC, Nintendo DS™ and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system.

Also coming soon from Disney Interactive Studios is a new Toy Story 3 app for the iPhone® and iPod touch® that will let fans play, personalize and stay connected to Toy Story. With features such as trailers, a countdown clock, movie information, ticketing, and light games and activities, Toy Story 3 connects consumers to their favorite Toy Story characters, stories and happenings. In addition, the app will feature links to purchase premium content and games such as a new update of the successful Toy Story Mania! app, priced at $4.99, in the “Toy Store.” A Toy Story 3 mobile game will also be available cross-platform on all major wireless carriers.

About Disney Pixar’s Toy Story Movie Franchise
The creators of the beloved Toy Story films re-open the toy box and bring moviegoers back to the delightful world of our favorite gang of toy characters in Toy Story 3. As Andy prepares to depart for college, Buzz, Woody and the rest of his loyal toys are troubled about their uncertain future. Directed by Lee Unkrich (co-director of Toy Story 2 and Finding Nemo), Toy Story 3 is a comical new adventure in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D that lands the toys in a room full untamed tots who can’t wait to get their sticky little fingers on these “new” toys. It’s pandemonium as they try to stay together, ensuring “no toy gets left behind.” Meanwhile, Barbie comes face to plastic face with Ken (yes, that Ken). Pixar veteran Darla K. Anderson (Cars, Monsters, Inc.) produces, while Michael Arndt, Academy Award®-winning screenwriter of Little Miss Sunshine, brings his unique talents and comedic sensibilities.

About the Toy Story Franchise
When it was released in 1995, Toy Story set an industry precedent as the first full-length feature film created entirely with CG animation. In 1999, Toy Story 2 opened to critical acclaim and won a Golden Globe® for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Today, Toy Story is a phenomenal global franchise with $878M in box office sales and $8B in retail merchandise sales. It’s supported across The Walt Disney Company through films, consumer products, live theater productions, park attractions, music, a web site www.ToyStory.com, home entertainment – including the upcoming March release of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on Disney Blu-ray, video games – including Toy Story Mania! for Wii™ and the upcoming June release of Toy Story 3: The Video Game supporting all major platforms, and books – with more than 150 new titles releasing throughout 2010.
