Press Release
Brighton, UK, 19th July 2010. Eurogamer, Europe’s leading independent games media specialist, has announced the game submission process for The Indie Games Arcade at this year’s Eurogamer Expo is now open.
Supported by digital distribution service Get Games, the Indie Games Arcade is returning to the third annual Eurogamer Expo this year from 1st - 3rd October. Co-ordinator Pixel-Lab is seeking submissions from up-and-coming developers keen to exhibit their work. Last year, more than ten thousand visitors attended the Eurogamer Expo, and that number is set to be even bigger this year.
"It's good to be able to offer indies this chance to put their work out there, as well as spring these kind of projects on expo-goers", said David Hayward, coordinator of the Indie Games Arcade.
"The people and companies who make the kind of games we show really aren't the type that can afford expo space that publishers and platform holders get. Likewise, their work is substantially different in tone. In past years we've had genuine reactions of surprise, pleasure, and embarrassment from players and I'm really looking forward to this year".
All submissions exhibited will be automatically submitted for the ‘Rock, Paper, Shotgun Indie Game of the Show’ award. Debuting at this year’s Expo and donated by popular PC gaming blog www.rockpapershotgun.com, the prestigious prize is already being coveted on the indie scene.

What Have You Played This Week?
It may not look like i've played alot this week, but i have put alot of time into Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2, maybe 15+ hours this week. not made it in my attempt to finish the game, it could take around 60+ hours to complete the game, but i have finished 1 story mode and some of the other story mode so i may send it back to the rentals on Monday.
Football Manager 10 – PC – still with Havant & Waterlooville and still in league 1. not played too much, just coming up to Christmas now, but i'm doing well in the league. The only problem I have is i'm unable to improve my stadium and because of this my finances are very tight.
Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 – Xbox 360 – I put a lot of time into this game in an attempt to try and finish it. What I soon discovered is that I wasn't having any fun playing it on medium so I put it on easy and began to have a better time playing the game. The main reason why medium was no fun was because the game has no checkpoint system, so if you die you have to start all the way from the beginning. What I was finding was I would get all the way to the end and die. This is more true with the giant Gundams they added to the game. They take a lot to kill them and they are very powerful, but there are some levels that have several of them throughout. The only other issues i've had with the game are some achievements not unlocking, 1 of which still has yet to unlock, and I think the manual camera moves a touch too slow. This game is not a quick game to play and the achievements are not easy to get, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. But if you like Gundams or hack-and-slash style games this is a very competent game. There are 2 story modes to play through as well as having to juggle friendships with other characters. On the surface it is a simple game, but if you want a deeper experience from a hack-and-slash, this has it.
Transformers: War For Cybertron – PS3 – just been playing some multiplayer, trying to get some of those achievements. Still find it fun, the multiplayer issues are still annoying...but my love for Transformers and this game wins out still.
Did you manage to play more games than I have over the week, or do you have any comments on my experiences or questions about the games i've played? If you do, feel free to add them in the comments section.

David Jaffe Reveals Twisted Metal Apocalypse, A Cancelled PS3 Twisted Metal Game
David Jaffe has revealed that around 2 years ago, Twisted Metal was going to be set in an apocalyptic wasteland. The artwork above was for a post apocalyptic Sweet Tooth. David Jaffe reveals that the games co-director, Scott Campbell, wasn't keen on the post apocalypse idea and ultimately this version of Twisted Metal was cancelled. David Jaffe says it was a "Good thing we did given the glut of apocalypse style games now flooding the market. Scott so smart! :)".

Sony Detail The Automatic Download Feature In Playstation Plus And Reveal Its First Demo
Sony have detailed how the Automatic Download feature works, for those who are a Playstation Plus Subscriber, and revealed the first demo that takes advantage of this new feature. The First Demo that will take advantage of this is Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days. the Demo is coming to the PSN on 20th July for Playstation Plus Subscribers, and on 27th July for regular Playstation 3 users. However, if your Playstation 3 is set up for Automatic Downloads, your Playstation 3 will download the demo, assuming your console is turned of, from 20th July.
Sony have also detailed how the Automatic Download feature works:
- turns on your PS3 system every 48 hours (during the timeframe you designate)
- checks for content
- downloads anything available to your PS3
- shuts off your PS3 system
- If your system is on during the timeframe you designate to check for updates, your PS3 will check for updates after it is turned off, during its next designated timeframe. This will likely be 24 – 48 hours later.
- If you already have the demo/firmware update on your system, PlayStation Plus will not push the demo to your system. (This is true even if you get the demo and then delete it.)
- You must be an active PlayStation Plus subscriber to enjoy the convenience of automatic downloads (which also delivers firmware updates and game patches).
- If you turn on the Automatic Download feature before Monday, July 19, expect to have the Kane & Lynch demo pushed to your system July 20th or 21st. during the timeframe you designate in your settings.
- If you turn on the feature between July 20 – 27, you can expect to have the demo pushed to your system within 24 hours, during the timeframe you designate in your setting.
- You’ll get the demo more quickly if your PS3 is not turned on during the timeframe you designate to check for updates, because the auto download feature of PlayStation Plus looks for content while your PS3 system is turned off.

The Betrayal of Jimmy* will be available as a free download on the day the game launches exclusively for players worldwide who purchase a new copy of Mafia II for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. The second DLC pack, Jimmy's Vendetta*, will be available soon after the launch of Mafia II and will offer players a different arcade style of gameplay with new missions and leaderboard competition on the PlayStation 3 system, Xbox 360TM video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PC. Get to know Empire Bay - the executioner's way.

Through a compelling narrative, Mafia II transports gamers into the dark and unforgiving world of the Mafia. The fiction is embellished by a sophisticated, era-evoking atmosphere that meticulously replicates the clothing, cars, music and advertising of 1940's and 1950's Americana. Players will easily become immersed in the game's cinematic Hollywood-style experience with strong, believable characters in a living, breathing metropolis. By fusing action-packed gameplay with white-knuckle driving and an epic gangster story, Mafia II looks to be the industry's most compelling Mafia title to-date.
Mafia II is developed by 2K Czech, the same creative team behind the award-winning, genre-defining Mafia®, which captivated millions of gamers around the world. A consumer demo will be available for download in early August for all three platforms. Mafia II is rated M for Mature by the ESRB and will be available in North America on August 24, 2010 and internationally beginning August 27, 2010.

Capcom Announce Mega Man Universe For The Playstation 3 And Xbox 360
Capcom have announced Mega Man Universe for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Capcom have announced that Mega Man Universe will "break the mold and challenge the conventional wisdom of what a Mega Man game can be." Not much has been revealed about the game, but a Trailer has been released on GameSpot. Its unclear, from the trailer, what game Mega Man Universe is and the introduction of Street Fighters Ryu, and a few other characters, only adds to the confusion.
My guess is Mega Man Universe could either be a Little Big Planet style game, more in the create and sharing of Mega Man Levels, with guest appearances from Capcom characters. Or it could be like Super Mario Crossover, A Mega Man game/world that can be played with Mega Man characters as well as other Capcom characters.
Press Release
London – July 16, 2010 — Capcom ® a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Mega Man UniverseTM is coming to Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network and PlayStation®Store. Mega Man Universe, the latest entry in Capcom’s long-running Mega ManTMseries, will be a revolutionary take on the seminal classic, setting course for a new chapter in classic gaming.
Mega Man games are beloved by fans all over the world. Since their debut in 1987, Mega Man has remained a videogame icon, having starred in more than 140 titles over the last 22 years. The connection he’s made with pop culture at large has extended beyond games and into cartoons, toys, clothing, comics, kid’s meals, and more. Part of that popularity is driven by the series’ ability to evolve over time yet consistently retain the addictive gameplay experience that sets Mega Man games apart.
For the next chapter in this legacy of excellence, Capcom aims to deliver the most creative Mega Man experience yet. In Mega Man Universe, imagination is the star of the game.
“We are thrilled to finally be able to announce Mega Man Universe,” said Kenji Inafune, Head of Research and Development Management for Capcom Entertainment. “This game will break the mold and challenge the conventional wisdom of what a Mega Man game can be. When fans finally get to see it, I believe they’ll envision their most far-out Mega Man dreams coming true.”
Inafune is committed to helping craft a Mega Man experience that meets the highest expectations of Capcom fans. Most recently Mega ManTM 10 echoed this fact when its classic design and compelling gameplay made it one of the most sought after digital downloads of the year. Gamers can expect Mega Man Universe to bring the core experience fans want while delivering on the promise of innovation that Capcom is known for. Its official: classic gaming will never be same again.

Black Bean Have Released New Screenshots And A Behind The Scenes Video For WRC
Black Bean have released new screenshots and a Behind The Scenes video for WRC. The first couple of screenshots are from in-game action, revealing how the games HUD looks. the HUD is fairly Minimal, with speed and car condition on the bottom right, current lap time top right, you position in the track on the left, and the upcoming direction changes above the car in the middle. The rest of the screenshots are in-game but they don't have a HUD. they do show 3 types of circuits, snow, desert, and a muddy town, and how each of the different environments effects the look of the car with stuff like mud.
The behind the scenes Video has many developers, who are working on the game, talking about what they have been doing to make the game as good and authentic as they could, whilst also trying to explain how they've had to improve on their own technology as this game is very different from anything they've worked on before. the video is split into sections, with developers talking about their area of work. it starts of with the games lead designer, then its the physics lead designer, he's followed by the games director, the art director, and the games track artist. some in-game gameplay is shown during the video, but they also show video from tools the teams use to measure physics, to build tracks, and more. its a very indepth and honest look into how they are making WRC.
