What Have You Played This Week?

Played a few more games this week. i had some money left on my PSN account and decided to spend it.

Fat Princess – PS3 – Just played a few of the single player chapters. Computer AI isn't bad, but does tend to leave it to me to rescue the princess.

Ashes Cricket 2009 – PS3 – i came to the conclusion that i prefer watching cricket to playing a videogame of it. that doesn't mean that this is a bad game. i found it to be good. it has a good training mode, and a variety or cricket types. i just didn't find the game as exciting to play as i did watching the game.

Football Manager 09 – PC – I decided to go back to a favourite team in the game, FC bayern Munchen. They are not my favourite team, that's Ipswich Town, but they are one of the easiest teams to play as, which enables me to look for other players, tactics and such. Would love to get the new game, but unfortunately I can't afford it, but what is great about the Football Manager games is that you can play them for a long time, even if a new version has come out (typically as the newest Football Manager needs 1 patch for it to get great.)

WipEout HD Fury – PS3 – I downloaded the Fury DLC pack for WipEout HD and think it''s one of the best things i've bought on the PSN. WipEout HD itself is a great game, but with the addition of the Fury DLC they have refreshed the game and added some great features to the game that can easily become a staple of the series. My favourite new addition is elimination. Its a simple destroy the most ships, earn the most points mode. The ships have a ability to flip 180 degrees, meaning you can shoot behind and infront. It is also a great online mode to play. The new tracks look bette than those in HD, but you can use the new modes on the exisiting tracks. Zone Detonator is a fun shooter where you have to shoot bombs and void them. Its difficult as you don't always have enough bullets and like other zone modes the game gets faster. Look for a full review soon

Tetris – PSP – this is a fine addition to the Tetris family. The game is uncluttered, good looking, and has some good new modes. What's great is that the game is priced cheaply, compared to the American PSN price, and the file size isn't that big. Load times are good, and there are other features like game completion, play 90 minutes, make 100 Tetris's, which add an extra level of competitiveness and incentive that doesn't detract from the main gameplay.

Pinball Fantasies – PSP – I reviewed this game so I won't spoil the review. I'll just say that for the price, the file size, and age of the game...i thought it was a good purchase and a good game.

Pinball Fantasies Review - PSP - 8

Pinball Fantasies PSP Mini's

The Good
  • Small File Size
  • Play PSP Vertical/Horizontal
The Bad
  • Vertical Gameplay Not Fully Optimised
  • High Scores Only Available in Main Menu in Vertical Mode
The Average
  • Graphics
  • Music
Pinball Fantasises offers good pinball tables and gameplay for a cheap price and a small file size. It doesn't look like a great modern game, but the old graphics and music still hold hope and don't look out of place on the PSP. The option of playing the game in horizontal or vertical is welcomed, and both play very well. There are some concerns playing vertically, but not enough for it to detract from the gameplay. The loading times are very quick, and the main menu is very simple, however trying to read hi scores does require changing to vertical mode. I don't know how this game holds up In comparison to the other versions of the game, but as a standalone game, it is good and the 4 tables it comes with are different enough from each other not to feel the same.
