Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - April's Weekend Splatfest Tricolor - 15 Battles 8 Wins!

Welcome to Switch Funday.
It's day two of April's Splatfest weekend so today's video focuses on the Tricolor game mode in Splatoon 3.

Just like yesterday, https://youtu.be/QJn1Mw3Md3c, matchmaking didn't take too long and my teams and i managed to get several wins. The only negative was how few Tricolor matches i played in were against the other two teams, Baby Chicks and Bear Cubs. it felt like there was a lot of Bunny on Bunny action today.

The 3 weapons i used today were the Bamboozler 14 Mk 1, a weapon i didn't enjoy using that much and one that never seemed to either have the power or range i needed at any given time. Also, the charge to attack felt out of place in Tricolor when people are moving around so much. The second weapon i used was the Gold Dynamo Roller. i have used it before and a complaint back then was how long it takes to do the jump attack and that was still true today. but it's inking was very useful. the final weapon was a new one i bought and it's the Custom Splattershot Jr. it looks strange shooting it as it seemingly can't shoot straight. but it did a good job at inking, attacking, and not using up ink quickly so i think it's one i'll use a lot going forward.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - April’s Weekend Splatfest – 15 Battles 9 Wins!

Welcome to Online Saturday.
It's a Splatfest weekend so today's video is on the "Which fuzzy fluffiness do you like most?" Splatfest in Splatoon 3. I chose to join #teambunnies.

This was one of my most successful Splatfests yet! I went in not expecting much as the previous one in March, https://youtu.be/ctf5ACsF6oA, went badly and i only got 3 wins in it. My focus was to try out weapons i own but haven't used much. I started with the Custom Dualie Squelchers and got 4 wins with them! I was so surprised, 4 wins out of 5 games, that's already better than March. next i tried the Tri-Stringer. I wasn't having as much fun with it, i could ink fine but i was having worse luck attacking and my teams and i only got 1 win during those 5 games. for the final 5 games i switched to a new weapon i bought, one from a type of weapon i haven't used before. I used the Explosher and once again my teams and I won 4 times. The only downside is that we failed to win the only 10X battle we had and we didn't play against Baby Chicks as much as we did against Bear Cubs.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - March's Weekend Splatfest Tricolor - 15 Battles 5 Wins!

Welcome to Switch Funday.
It's day two of March's Splatfest weekend so today's video focuses on the Tricolor game mode in Splatoon 3.

Unfortunately, the headline of disconnects and long waits matchmaking continued into Sunday. this video took nearly 1 hour 40 to record, so even longer than yesterdays! There was only one game disconnect but what was surprising were the two back to back lobby disconnects which meant from match 13 to match 14 was a 10 minute wait! (tho i say 5 in the video it was purely a guess)

The three weapons i used today weren't new, they were familiar to me. I started with the Recycled Brella 24 Mk 1, then switched to the Foil Flingza Roller when i realised my teammates still weren't inking, and finished with the Bloblobber as it's one of my favorites and i wanted to have some fun for the final 5 matches.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - March’s Weekend Splatfest – 15 Battles 3 Wins!

Welcome to Online Saturday.
It's a Splatfest weekend so today's video is on the "'Which instrument would you play?' Drums, Guitar, or Keyboard?" Splatfest in Splatoon 3. I chose to join teamkeyboard.

This wasn't a successful Splatfest for me. i tried out 3 weapons i had bought after my last #Turfwar video, https://youtu.be/AAbH0XWU2jc, using each for 5 games. The Clash Blaster Neo worked well as a shotgun style weapon and i got quite a few splats with it. The Range Blaster wasn't great as it took too long to shoot and could track enemies quick enough. the Splattershot was my favorite out of the 3 i used and was a decent fit for Splatfest. Another reason why i got so few wins was because my teammates didn't know how to play the game. the goal of Turfwar is to ink the most. but in many games i would be splatted and get a look at the map and just sigh with how little of it was inked, especially our home area. the first two weapons i used were not great at inking, they're better at attacking. it's frustrating that my teammates could see the situation and just keep on attacking.

My recording for this video is 1 hour 37 minutes. it's soo long because the matchmaking was much longer than normal. typically, it's 30 seconds or under but today the matchmaking was a long as 3 minutes. i also had 4 games that were abandoned due to disconnections as well as a lobby that was stopped due to a disconnection. This was the latest 7.10 version of the game, but the last few Splatfests have all suffered from longer matchmaking times. it'll be interesting if tomorrows Tricolor mode will have the same issues.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - Feeling Sick So Here's 15 Games Of Turf War Where I Try 3 Weapons

Welcome to Online Saturday.
I'm not feeling well today and wanted to relax with some gaming. i chose Splatoon 3 as it's a favorite of mine. There won't be any commentary, other than an intro and outro, as i wasn't feeling great and wanted to just relax. But after 15 games it was time to put it down as it started to be anything but relaxing as i was getting far too into it!

I used this time to try out 3 weapons. The Recycled Brella 24 Mk 1 came out with the 7.0.0 Patch and i was eager to try it as i like using Brella weapons. i had fun with it and will probably use it a lot going forward. i just don't like the Angle Shooter and Big Bubbler it comes with. I didn't enjoy the Foil Flingza Roller as much when attacking with it, but for inking it was very impressive and i managed to get some splats with it's Suction Bomb. The Nautilus 47 is a style of weapon i rarely use outside of #SalmonRun so i used it more out of curiosity than anything else. it did allow me to be more attacking and i got more splats with it than the other two combined. it's not bad so i may look at the other Nautilus variants to see if there's one a better fit for how i like to play.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - March's Big Run Event

Welcome to Switch Funday

This weekend is March's Big Run Event in Splatoon 3. The event takes place on the Eeltail Alley map.

My goals during a Big Run event are to get this month's Salmon Run item twice, get 1,000 points, and try to get the bronze award. so far, getting the item twice and 1,000 points hasn't been an issue. It's getting the bronze award for eggs collected that's been a big challenge. This month's item is the SplatJack 5000 and i got that in my first Big Run match as my time and I got a good 70 eggs collected. 1,000 Points was also easy to reach as we only lost 2 of the 7 games we played today. And i can say that for the first time, i got a Bonze Award!

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - Getting February's Salmon Run Item

This month's Splatoon 3 Salmon Run item is the Trevally Derby Rollers. Today, and going forward, my new goal will be to get 1,000 points. I had already been doing this for the past few videos but i'll make it official.

This Salmon run was one of the best ones i've ever done. My teams and I frequently managed to beat all 3 waves so i was able to get the 1,000 and do a bonus run. we weren't able to defeat the Horrorboros.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - February's Weekend Splatfest Tricolor - 15 Battles 5 Wins!

Welcome to Switch Funday.
It's day two of February's Splatfest weekend so today's video focuses on the Tricolor game mode in Splatoon 3. Things were only a little better than yesterday. Matches generally took a minute to be found, there was one game disconnected and a couple of games where teams played with one fewer player. Check out yesterday's video at https://youtu.be/qAMJOuPzT_8, it took an hour 45 to play 15 games then and today it took an hour 30!

The goal of Tricolor is for all three teams to play together. two, with only two players on each team, would team up against the third team, who has four players. Unfortunately, this doesn't often work brilliantly and i've never played a Tricolor Sunday with all games working out like that. often it ends up with three of the same team going up against each other. This week, i only did 3 "proper" Tricolor battles and it felt bad. i really did start to lose enthusiasm by the end. I also only ever played as the defending team 4 times so again it was boring doing the same thing soo many times.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - February’s Weekend Splatfest – 15 Battles 6 Wins!

Welcome to Online Saturday.
It's a Splatfest weekend so today's video is on the "What's the best day of the weekend? Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?" Splatfest in Splatoon 3. I chose to join Team Saturday.

The biggest takeaway for me from today, Saturday, of the Splatfest is how bad the online was. I had 4 games disconnect during gameplay and more in lobbies waiting for games. on top of that were times when i waited minutes for a game, with one wait 3 minutes or more. Splatoon 3 has incredible matchmaking in that the wait is typically 20 seconds or less. so for it to be soo long today sticks out even more. i recorded nearly 1 hour 45 minutes of video and cut out the waits and disconnections and the video is about 1 hour 2 minutes. that's 40 minutes of waiting. By the end i was really fed up and my enthusiasm had dried up. i just wanted the 15 games to be over. I can only hope it went better for you.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - February's Eggstra Work Event

Welcome to Switch Funday!

This weekend is February's Eggstra Work Event in Splatoon 3 on Switch. I haven't had much luck with the previous events so i came into this just wanting to get a decent score, one i felt satisfied with, a 1,000 points for the Gatchapon, and if possible finishing Wave 5.

In the end, none of the teams i was on were able to beat Wave 5, but the rest of the goals were met. I say at the beginning that the start of the video is going to be full of failure and things would get better on near the end and that was true. I don't watch videos of the event before i play, i go in knowing nothing. i just hope for a good weapon selection and good team mates to learn with. Match 4 was the start of things getting good and it mostly continued like that from that point on.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - Getting January's Salmon Run Item

This month's Splatoon3 Salmon Run item is the Hacker Jacket and like the other Salmon Run items, my goal is to get the item twice and pick the best of the two to keep. There are some great matches today and a couple of really bad ones. two of the teams i played along side faced off against Horrorboros but we weren't able to defeat it. Ultimately, i went for 1,000 points so there's an extra match after getting the Hacker Jacket twice.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - January's Frosty Splatfest Tricolor - 15 Battles 13 Wins!

Welcome to Switch Funday.
It's day two of the Frosty Splatfest weekend so today's video focuses on the Tricolor game mode in Splatoon 3. I felt like it took less time than yesterday to get into matches and there were far fewer connection issues, too. An issue that can plague the Tricolor Mode is where it's 3 teams of the same type fighting each other. thankfully that only happened twice this week.

Personally, i'm amazed how often my team mates and I were able to win and how easy it often was. you'll hear me make the same comments throughout this video in that the opposing teams often did a bad job of inking their home areas. i'm sure it gave us the win a couple of times. Some games were tough and competitive, but overall it was just a pleasant time all round. I can't say i found one team more useful than the other, but perhaps Team Family were the ones inking their starting area the least.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - January’s Frosty Splatfest – 15 Battles 8 Wins!

Welcome to Online Saturday.
It's a Splatfest weekend so today's video is on the "Who do you spend the holiday's with?" Splatfest in Splatoon 3. Our choices are between Family, Solo, or Friends. I chose to join teamsolo.

This was the first time i've played Splatoon 3 this year, as my previous videos had focused on Pokémon Unite. i was expecting to feel rusty and the first game certainly felt like it. but i felt ready after that and my team mates and i managed to win 8 of the 15 games we played. it was disappointing that out of the 15 games, only 4 were against Family teams. Family also felt the easier of the two to beat, so from my point of view Team Friends are the biggest rivals to Team Solo.

Demo Play Thursday - Another Code: Recollection On Switch

For this week's Demo Play Thursday i played the Nintendo Switch game Another Code: Recollection. This game, from developers Cing is set to come out in January.

I was interested in this demo because i didn't play the original game on Nintendo DS and i was curious which of the two games included in this collection we would get to try. on the eShop page, it doesn't provide information about the demo, it seems to be for the main game itself. so going in there were a few questions.

right from the beginning one big question was answered immediately as the game informed us that our save will be carried over from the demo to the full version of the game. Tho, what it didn't say was that we have to do a manual save ourself as the game only has an autosave. On the demo home screen we're also welcomed with a link to buy the game from it's eShop page which is a great thing that not enough games do. it makes me feel like some effort and attention was put into this demo, even if it's just the start of the first game.

the final big question left is, after playing it for over an hour, do i want to buy it and continue the story. Honestly, no. what i played in this first hour probably did more to turn me away from the game rather than hook me. I wasn't that keen on how the story was told, especially with a flash back we had to play through, and a conversation on the boat that felt weird to have when surely we would've had it before in the past. The gameplay was also a little frustrating. i mention a few times in the video that i didn't like how slow the camera was, but i could just about deal with it. despite how good the game looks, the thing that took me out of the experience the most was how emotionless the character's faces and body language was. the main character looks great, but her face shows little emotion. the same with the character we meet near the end of the video. the emotions i imagined they'd be feeling were replaced with that person starring blankly straight faced.

It's possible i might've enjoyed the Nintendo DS original more than this Switch version because the DS is a portable handheld that was, at times, used as a book. it's limited graphical abilities, when compared to the Switch, might've helped hide the emotionless characters. This demo did a good job at showing me that this game, or this version at least, isn't for me.

Switch Funday - F-Zero 99 - Frozen Knight League, Classic, And Team Battle Modes

For Switch Funday i'm back with F-Zero 99 as over this Christmas period a new special league is available. Not only that, as i haven't played it in a while i was also keen to check out the recently added classic league.

The tricky thing is that the Frozen Knight League and the Classic Mode are both in rotation so it could be difficult to play both in the same video. thankfully i was lucky and i got to try out both, as well as some Team Battles and F-Zero 99 modes.

The Frozen Knight League seems to be nothing more than an aesthetic change to the circuits with some bonuses for the player after playing a certain number of races. I found the Classic Mode to be more interesting as it reduced the number of players to 20, dropped the spin attacks and skyway, and was presented in a 4:3 aspect ratio. all these made the game feel a little more retro. but it still had the element of racers being removed from the race if they didn't reach a certain position threshold.

Switch Funday - Tetris 99 - 38th Maximus Cup - Super Mario Bros. Wonder

This weekend there is the 38th Maximus cup in Tetris 99. the prize this cup is a Super Mario Bros. Wonder theme. It was nice playing Tetris again so soon after the 37th Maximus Cup a few weeks ago. unlike that time, i felt that i was much more ready for today and had some great games. the 3rd, 4th, and 5th games saw me around the top 15, but it was actually the first game which was most challenging as even tho i only finished 26th, it was going very fast as that game was over 6 minutes long!

How did it go for you? let me know in the comments. and of course, if you got the win, let us know as this week 10th was the best for me.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - Turf War - Trying Out 3 Weapons

Welcome to Online Saturday!

I'm not feeling well today. So here's a video with no commentary.

There's nothing special happening this weekend in Splatoon 3 and as i'm not feeling great i just wanted to play some games. it's actually been a while since i just sat back and played some Turf War in Splatoon 3. i had bought some weapons and not used them so that was today's "goal", give them a go. I used the new Undercover Sorella Brella and Foil Squeezer, and the Tenta Sorella Brella that was released in the previous game update.

Switch Funday - BONUS - Tetris 99 - 37th Maximus Cup - Warioware: Move It!

This weekend there is the 37th Maximus Cup in Tetris 99. the prize this cup is a Warioware: Move It! theme. I haven't played this game since the last Maximus Cup and it showed. i was very rusty and made many mistakes. it was surprising that i finished as high as i did in the first video considering all the mistakes i made. Overall i'm happy to have finished high 3 times even tho i wasn't playing good, but i'm not satisfied with my performance as i'm still on the hunt for my first win at Tetris.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - December's Big Run Event

Welcome to Online Saturday!

This weekend is December's Big Run Event in Splatoon 3. The event takes place on the Barnacle & Dime map. Throughout the video i'll make the mistake and think that this is the eggstra event and talk about this video https://youtu.be/fohHFUg29QU. i hope this wont be too confusing for you.

This went really well. I aimed to get the item twice and as that seemed easy and the recording was under an hour i went for 1,000 points! it only took 7 games and my teams and i came up against the new Salmonoid boss Megalodontia. we faced off against it twice but it's a very tough boss. the first time was at high tide and with the boss being so big, it was tough to avoid whilst also dealing with the other enemies. the second time started better but as a team we got wiped out fairly quick. having it appear from below is tricky to deal with as the ink put down is rarely ours. by this point, there's so much enemy ink that getting around is slow. it's tough to ink, attack enemies, dodge the boss, and attack the boss. in that second game i also had a weapon i didn't like to use.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - November's Splatfest Tricolor - 15 Battles 11 Wins!

Welcome to Switch Funday.
It's day two of the Splatfest weekend so today's video focuses on the Tricolor game mode in Splatoon3. the connection issues and long waiting times for matches continued from yesterday, but on the plus side teamhandshake did much better today in Tricolor than in yesterday's Splatfest Battle.

Even tho my teams and i won 11 battles today, they weren't all big wins. some of them were very close, many came because the opposing teams forgot the golden rule with Splatoon 3, and that is inking. most of the teams i was on focused on inking as well as attacking or defending. this meant i was mostly confident that we had always achieved one goal. this is clear when watching the percentage at the top of the screen.
