LOS ANGELES, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Atari, Inc., one of the world's most recognized videogame publishers, and renowned MMO developer Cryptic Studios have announced today that the superhero MMORPG, Champions Online™, will be free to play beginning Q1 2011. Players will be able to download and enjoy the game at absolutely no cost.

Champions Online free-to-play will also feature additional premium content for purchase. Adventure Packs, items, powers and costume pieces can be selected a la carte inside Cryptic's innovative C-Store. Additionally, current players may continue subscribing as Gold members, while new players may also optionally upgrade to Gold status, which unlocks most of the game's content and includes extra features for a set price of $14.99 per month.

"Transitioning Champions Online to the free-to-play model is a great opportunity to reach a whole new audience of PC gamers that view subscription fees as a barrier to entry," said John Needham, CEO of Cryptic Studios. "By taking care of our current subscription-based community and welcoming the addition of new players through free-to-play, Champions Online is poised to build upon its success and to establish a new leadership position as the first free-to-play superhero MMO."
Champions Online has been lauded since its launch for the customization options it gives players. The switch to free-to-play gives players even more control over their gameplay:

Unlimited Play Time – Play as much as you like, as long as you like, at absolutely no cost. No subscription or credit card required.

Press Release

CERGY-PONTOISE, FRANCE – 26 October 2010 – Leading video game publisher NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe S.A.S. announced today that PAC-MAN Party™ has gone gold for Wii™. Set in a birthday party theme, PAC-MAN stars in this new venture packed with dozens of mini-games, challenges and surprises. Utilizing the Wii Remote™, the game's easy to pick-up-and-play controls will have players using their skills and reflexes to compete against one another as they move about unique virtual game boards. With something for everyone in the family, PAC-MAN Party will be packed with non-stop action when it is available throughout Europe and Asia-Pacific on November 26, 2010.

PAC-MAN Party continues the franchise’s legacy of providing engaging entertainment that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With more than 50 exciting mini-games and eight characters to choose from including newcomers Woofa, Patra and Roger, players will be fully engaged using the Wii Remote's motion and button control capabilities in various time-based trials.
From dodging a cascade of blocks, to racing and sheep shearing challenges, there is non-stop action for everyone.

Depending on a player's mood, they can select three modes of play. Story mode provides the opportunity to explore all the game board worlds and protect Mr. Cookie’s secret recipe. Mini-Game mode offers a quick fix for those who want the sudden rush of competition without the commitment. Party mode provides a more in-depth experience that has up to four friends competing across different boards to collect the most points. Raising the stakes a bit more, property can be strategically developed on any given space which can increase wealth and provide the quickest route to victory. However unlike traditional board games, if someone lands on a spot that is already occupied, players will have to fight for ownership via challenges.

To help level the competitive playing field and encourage big comebacks, Power Cookies can be utilized during each mini-game to increase a characters size or put extra force and speed behind each effort. But the party doesn’t stop there. As an added bonus, PAC-MAN Party will also feature a Classic mode where players can experience the original arcade versions of PAC-MAN®, Galaga® and Dig-Dug®.
