Disney Interactive Studios Release Alice In Wonderland Boxart For The Nintendo Wii And DS

Disney Interactive Studios have released the boxart for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS version of Alice In Wonderland. The Boxart also reveal that the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS versions are different styles of games. The Nintendo DS version of the game is aimed more towards kids and has a style designed for them. The game has DSi only features, like the ability to use the DSi camera to detect colours and unlock game content. A iPhone and iPod Touch Alice In Wonderland game is already out now.

Press Release

BURBANK, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Mar 02, 2010 Disney Interactive Studios today announced Alice in Wonderland is now available for Wii™, Nintendo DS™ and Windows PC. Ten years after falling into Wonderland, the teenage Alice has fallen again. Now fans of this classic tale can join her in video games inspired by the highly anticipated Tim Burton film.

In the games, Alice and friends embark on a journey to save Underland, which has been taken over by the Red Queen’s army. Full of imagination, creativity, and good vs. evil, Alice in Wonderland is a fun-filled adventure for everyone. Players explore multiple environments, including the Mushroom Forest and the Red Queen’s castle filled with strange doors, passageways, false perspectives, and objects that come to life to enhance the journey.

“As we started developing the games, we wanted to give fans a chance to experience the beauty of Underland and explore this fantastical world,” said Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “We also wanted to give kids a unique experience on the DS so we created two very different games.”

Alice in Wonderland introduces fans to an entirely new style of innovative gameplay that will challenge the puzzle solving skills of experienced players, while making the adventures accessible and enjoyable for Underland’s newest visitors. Along the way are lessons about the importance of friendships and loyalty, as well as self discovery. A variety of combat, puzzles and exploration will give all audiences something to enjoy and replay. In addition, Underland is famous for its familiar cast of characters and in the games, Disney Interactive Studios developers have followed suit, giving each “cast member” unique abilities to aid player in evading traps and solving puzzles.

The Wii and PC versions also feature an upgradeable combat system, in which players collect “impossible ideas” to unlock Underland’s secrets. Players must carefully select the supporting characters and their abilities to defeat the many enemies set forth by the Red Queen and her army of cards.

The DS version introduces a new twist as players control a cast of Alice’s diverse and enduring friends to guide her and combat the legions of the Red Queen’s army. Creating their own path through Underland using the oraculum map, players lead, protect and help Alice on her quest. The DS version features an innovative art style and unique character abilities similar to those of the Wii and PC versions. Nintendo DSi players will use the system’s camera to detect colors mapped to unlockable content when tasks are completed. Also included in the DS version is DGamer, the online community exclusive to Disney gamers on Nintendo DS, allowing players to connect with others and unlock additional items in their DS game.

Alice in Wonderland was developed by France’s Etranges Libellules and is rated E 10+. For more information, please log onto www.alicevideogame.com.

Also now available from Disney Interactive Studios is “Alice in Wonderland – An Adventure Beyond the Mirror” for the Apple iPhone® and iPod touch® priced at $4.99. Inspired by the highly anticipated Disney film from Tim Burton, the game lets users play as Alice through 10 multi-level environments, hundreds of puzzles and curious challenges. Players will be able to freeze time with the White Rabbit, make objects appear or disappear with the Cheshire Cat, use the power of Telekinesis with the March Hare or transform objects from one world to another with the help of the Mad Hatter. In addition, players can utilize a GPS, camera, photo library or simply play the game to unlock Hidden Objects in Alice’s Journal.

About the Movie
From Walt Disney Pictures and visionary director Tim Burton comes an epic 3D fantasy adventure ALICE IN WONDERLAND, a magical and imaginative twist on some of the most beloved stories of all time. JOHNNY DEPP stars as the Mad Hatter and MIA WASIKOWSKA as 19-year-old Alice, who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen’s reign of terror. The all-star cast also includes ANNE HATHAWAY, HELENA BONHAM CARTER and CRISPIN GLOVER.

Capturing the wonder of Lewis Carroll’s beloved “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (1865) and “Through the Looking-Glass” (1871) with stunning, avant-garde visuals and the most charismatic characters in literary history, ALICE IN WONDERLAND comes to the big screen in Disney Digital 3D™ on March 5, 2010.

Sony Announce That The Playstation 3 Clock Bug Is Now Fixed

Sony have confirmed that the Playstation 3 clock bug has now been fixed and the consoles should work fine again. it appears that when the clock, in the consoles, changed to 1st March (when it changed to 2nd March in real life), the problem sorted itself out.

Some consoles may need to have their dates changed, you can do this manually in the settings or have the machine update the clock via the internet.

From EU Playstation Blog

Sony has also detailed how to get trophy data back. all that's needed to be done it load up the game, wait for the trophies to be installed, then exit the game and sync the trophies.

It could be possible that bought PSN games that people tried to play yesterday may not work properly. in this case deleting them and re-downloading the title should fix it.

Mario Blasts Off for another Out-of-This-World Adventure
In 2007, Super Mario Galaxy took the world of video games by storm. Now this first true Mario™ sequel in years re-energizes the franchise with new levels and new power-ups. Plus this time Mario gets to team up with his dinosaur buddy Yoshi™, who adds new possibilities to the gravity-defying game play. It's everything you love about the first game and more.

FEATURES:
Mario collects stars as he travels from galaxy to galaxy. Every level is new, but the game retains the charm, sense of wonder and beauty in line with Mario's history. Mario works his way through the various levels, sometimes upside-down, sometimes floating from place to place.

On some stages, Mario can find an egg, smash it open and hop onto the back of Yoshi. Yoshi can use his tongue to grab items and shoot them back at enemies, or to snag attach points and swing across chasms.

Yoshi has an interesting diet. When he eats a Dash Pepper, he gets so hot and frenzied he can run up steep inclines and vertical walls. When he eats a Blimp Fruit, he inflates like a balloon and floats to new heights.

New power-ups include a drill that Mario uses to tunnel through the planet's surface all the way to the other side of a planet.

Skilled players will want to collect new Comet Metals, which will unlock harder levels with even more challenges.

During the game, Zip and Pip travel through eight fast-action side-scrolling worlds, each culminating in a boss battle. Each level offers a unique challenge as Zip might be shrunk down, fattened up or turned into a heavy steel ball. Other levels turn the action on its head to scroll vertically instead of horizontally.

The vividly colored worlds include sandy beaches, lush tropical treetops and even underwater grottos.

Use Logic to Reveal the Sculptures in the Puzzles

Based on the international smash-hit Picross puzzle phenomenon, Picross 3D™ takes the mind-bending fun into the next dimension. Blending the logical challenge of a number-based puzzle with the excitement of discovering the hidden objects, this game is easy to pick up, but hard to put down.

FEATURES:
Players start with a solid block of cubes marked with numbers. Each block contains a hidden object. Each number represents the number of blocks in that row that are part of the hidden object. If a row of six blocks is marked with the number five, one of those blocks must be eliminated. But which one? Players must deduce the answer based on the number clues marked on adjacent rows and columns.

Once all the appropriate blocks have been chipped away, a fun object will be revealed. There are more than 350 unique puzzles to solve and objects to discover in the game.

Picross 3D lets players create their own customized puzzles. Players can either share their creations with other Picross 3D players via a local wireless connection or use their broadband Internet connection and Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection to submit their puzzles into a monthly themed puzzle challenge. Winners will have their puzzles featured in free weekly downloads available to all Picross 3Dplayers for a limited time after the game is launched.

Additional brain teasing puzzles will be made available throughout the year in themed puzzle packs via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

If multiple people want to play Picross 3D, game owners can also send a sample puzzle to others via DS Download Play without the need of a second game card.

A Bug Has Hit Original "Fat" Playstation 3's WorldWide

Original "Fat", Pre Slim Models, Playstation 3 Consoles around the world have reportedly been hit by a bug. initially, it was suspected that the PSN was down and the focus was on fixing this. However, a wider issue soon became apparent. It now appears that this is not a issue with the PSN, rather its a issue with the old "Fat" PS3 consoles.

its being reported throughout the internet that the issue started when the 28th February went to 1st March. its now suspected, by many, that the issue is a calender bug that has reverted the calender on the PS3 to 2000.

This Bug is reportedly affected more than Retail PS3 consoles. its been reported that Debug units have also got this bug. Debug units are used by game developers to test their games on a PS3 console as well as Major game sites who review non-retail versions of games. Its reported that these units are currently unusable.

The Official USA and EU Playstation Blogs offer no fixes but do say that they are working on a fix. they recommend that people follow the USA or EU Twitter feeds to keep up to date with any news on the issue. at present its recommended that Playstation 3 owners with a "Fat" Unit do not turn them on until a fix is found.

QTE Gamers will report when a fix is found.

What Have You Played This Week?

Unfortunately, I Didn't play many games this week. I put a lot of work into Okami, hoping to finish the game, and didn't have much time for other games.

Football Manager 10 – PC – thought I would have a go with another team. I'm now Annan and making my way through the first season.

Okami – Wii – I put a lot of hours in to try and complete the game. In the end, I thought I had finished the game but it turned out it was just the beginning. This main part of the story was told very well and i'm interested to see how they've managed to drag out the story into something bigger. I wonder how much longer it will take as i'm already 20 hours into the game. Despite this, the game is still a must play. I am enjoying every minute of the game, from the graphics, the story, the music, even the controls have become much easier to use with time.

Sonic & Sega All Star Racing – PS3 – Demo – i've been interested in this game since it was announced and i've been looking forward to having a go. Whilst the demo is short, it does show how the characters can differ and how the tracks are to race on. I personally enjoyed it; the difficulty is a bit higher than Mario kart but I feel the game has as much depth as Mario Kart. I never managed to win a race but I did manage to come second. The drifting takes time to get used to. With Sonic, the drifting was very pronounced but with Eggman it was less noticeable. The graphics are very colourful and it looks good and fun.

Sonic & Sega All Star Racing – DS – Demo – After playing the PS3 version I wanted to see how the game looked on the DS. Getting the demo from the Wii's Nintendo Channel, I played a few races on the track. One noticeable thing is that the game feels a lot easier. I managed to win both races with ease. The graphics do look good for a DS game, they are still bright and colourful like the console versions. Out of the two, I would prefer to get the console version.

What have you been playing this week? feel free to add your weeks gaming selection in the comments, or comment on my selection for this week
