Product Overview:
Bringing a new style of storytelling to Xbox 360, “Alan Wake” is a psychological action thriller from Remedy, the renowned original developers of the successful “Max Payne” series. In this dynamic new title exclusively for Xbox 360, players assume the role of Alan Wake, a best-selling suspense author suffering from writer’s block, who escapes to a small town only to experience the mysterious disappearance of his wife.

Set in the deceptively idyllic town of Bright Falls, Washington, “Alan Wake” immerses players in an intense and expansive cinematic world that enables players to explore the hyper-realistic and interactive environments. “Alan Wake” is mission-based with a deeply engaging and suspenseful storyline unveiling new twists and profound character revelations at every turn.

Players will unravel the riveting plot through multilayered character interactions, unique problem-solving and intense combat against terrifying enemies. In this nightmarish world, where fantasy and reality collide, Alan Wake must use a variety of weapons to survive, including his most powerful ally against the darkness — light itself.

Features:
Intense psychological thriller. “Alan Wake” delivers a deeply
psychological and finely crafted plot that raises the bar for storytelling in video games. The riveting story of “Alan Wake” is propelled by a movie-like atmosphere, compelling situations, memorable characters and real-time pacing. Remedy has a record of creating and developing games with unique cinematic presentation and exceptionally high production values.

Light as a combat element. As Wake journeys deeper into the mystery of Bright Falls, the shadows close in around him. When darkness descends, light becomes his only ally as he fights his way to daybreak. . This poses a severe problem for Alan Wake since his enemies seemingly gain strength from the shadows, and before long, light itself becomes his greatest ally. Players must skillfully combine their use of light with more conventional weapons to stand a chance.

Realistic, interactive environment. Set in the town of Bright Falls, the hyper-detailed environments of the Pacific Northwest play an important role; even the change in daylight and weather will profoundly affect the characters and enemies in “Alan Wake.” The game’s advanced rendering engine provides amazingly realistic environments that bring this world to detailed life — from the lush forest of evergreen trees to the quaint small-town buildings and streets. The world of “Alan Wake” is alive and real.

Episodic narrative. The mission-based structure of “Alan Wake” creates an episodic narrative similar to a deeply structured dramatic television series, such as LOST, Twin Peaks and X-Files. As the episodes progress, gameplay will evolve to introduce new elements and characters, escalating the level of threat and action in the game.

“Alan Wake” (Remedy Entertainment Ltd.). Launching May 18 in North America and May 21 in Europe, nightmares come to life in this Xbox 360 exclusive that will establish a new gaming genre, the gripping psychological action thriller. It is built like a chilling episodic TV series, where your wits and light are your only allies, and you can pre-order your copy now at participating retailers to reserve your Bright Falls Bonus Pack, which includes exclusive content such as avatar gear, an Xbox LIVE theme, and a “making of” video. Those looking to immerse themselves in the mystery beyond the game can also pre-order the limited collector’s edition, packed with bonus discs of behind-the-scenes footage, exclusive in-game commentary and hints from Remedy, a game soundtrack, “The Alan Wake Files” book, and more, all bound together in a hardcover bookshelf-worthy package.

U.S. District Court Denies Motion To Dismiss A Class-Action Lawsuit Against EA And NCAA

U.S. District Court Judge Claudia Wilken has denied a motion to dismiss a class action lawsuit filed by Hagens Berman against EA and NCAA. The Class-action lawsuit, filed on behalf of current and former college athletes, claims that EA used likenesses of current and former college athletes in their NCAA games. The case will be heard in April.

In their attempt to get the case dismissed, EA and NCAA tried using the First Amendment. however, the court recognised that there were similarities between real athletes and those in the game. At this point, EA has not disputed the claims and will have to prove that they did not use the likenesses of college athletes in NCAA games.

Press Release

LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)-- Feb 11, 2010 Recent developments surfaced this week in a class-action lawsuit filed by Hagens Berman against Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS) and NCAA. U.S. District Court Judge Claudia Wilken denied a motion to dismiss the case. The class action, on behalf of current and former college athletes, will move forward April 2010.

The decision forces video game maker, EA, along with NCAA, to now prove they did not use the likenesses of actual college athletes in NCAA-branded video games, said lead attorney Rob Carey with Hagens Berman. “EA tried to hide under the First Amendment but the court recognized similarities between real athletes and the game were just too great to be ignored.”

EA did not at this juncture dispute claims made by plaintiff Samuel Keller, former quarterback for Arizona State University. Instead, the company unsuccessfully sought a defense under the First Amendment. Judge Wilken rejected the gaming company’s argument along with NCAA’s, citing that allegations made by Mr. Keller have merit.

EA reported revenue of $1.24 billion during the third quarter ending Dec. 31, 2009 this week. The gaming company also confirmed its decision to discontinue the development of NCAA Basketball video games, telling Game Informer magazine, “we're currently reviewing the future of our NCAA Basketball business."

Press Release

SEATTLE and DUBLIN, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- PopCap Games, maker of some of the world's most popular video games, today announced that it will mark the 10th birthday of its flagship franchise Bejeweled® with a 10-month long celebration beginning today. Throughout 2010 PopCap will introduce new installments in the Bejeweled lineup, hold the first-ever community-wide competition for Bejeweled Blitz, and stage exciting promotional activities such as the upcoming "Show Your Bejeweled Love" contest. PopCap also announced today that Bejeweled has now sold more than 50 million units, making it one of the top ten best-selling video games of all time — and the company continues to sell a copy of Bejeweled every 4.3 seconds.

"Bejeweled has obviously succeeded beyond our wildest dreams," said Jason Kapalka, co-creator of the game and co-founder and chief creative officer at PopCap. "When Brian Fiete, John Vechey and I built the game ten years ago, we had no grand aspirations for it or PopCap, we were trying to survive as a company during the depths of the dot-com collapse. Little did we know we'd still be selling copies of Bejeweled a decade later!"

Originally launched in the spring of 2000 as "Diamond Mine," ten years and more than 350 million downloads later Bejeweled has won dozens of awards, has been localized for audiences around the world and has been adapted for more than a dozen different platforms from iPhone to Xbox and even airline seatbacks. The game has actually accelerated in popularity and now sells at a rate of one copy every 4.3 seconds somewhere in the world, and has just been named The Most Popular Puzzle Game Series of the Century by the Guinness World Records 2010 Video Games Edition. PopCap and its distribution partners have recently confirmed that more than 50 million units of Bejeweled, Bejeweled 2 and Bejeweled Twist have been sold, but the game's reach extends an order of magnitude further.

Between free-to-play online versions across the internet, trial downloads, pre-installs and demo disks, an estimated half billion people have played Bejeweled in one form or another since its introduction.

Over the course of this calendar year, PopCap will introduce new installments in the Bejeweled franchise - including an all-new way to play Bejeweled Blitz, the 1-minute social adaptation of the game - as well as conducting numerous contests and promotions open to consumers of all stripes. A competition to identify and reward the very best Bejeweled Blitz players - the first such competition held around a social game - will commence later this spring. The "Show Your Bejeweled Love" contest kicking off next month will encourage fans of the game to celebrate their affinity for the original match-3 puzzler in various audio and video forms; there is no cost or obligation to enter, and details will be available as of early March at www.bejeweled.com.

Press Release

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., February 10, 2010— The Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that its Hasbro-branded video games have sold a combined total of more than eight million units at retail globally1. To date, the company has launched 20 different Hasbro brands on 18 major digital platforms since the strategic alliance between EA and Hasbro (NYSE: HAS) was formed in August 2007.

EA attributes the soaring popularity of its Hasbro-inspired portfolio of video games to a combination of key market drivers such as the growing mass appeal of family-friendly video games, the ongoing demand for video games designed specifically for girls, and the rich heritage and draw of Hasbro’s iconic toy and game properties.

A recent Nickelodeon study states that 36 percent of families are playing video games together as entertainment2, and according to NPD Group, Inc., more than $700 million of interactive software was purchased for girls ages 6-12 in 2008, up 23 percent from 20073.

“EA’s Hasbro-branded lineup has experienced tremendous success in the casual games market with video games that hold great appeal for families and kids as we’ve retained the essence of Hasbro’s iconic brands while re-imagining the toy and board game play experiences,” said Chip Lange, Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA’s Hasbro Division. “We really see these products extending the reach of interactive opportunities available for players today. They made the perfect gift for the holidays, and during the rest of the year, they are the ideal content for mobile gaming devices or to play and keep in touch with friends online.”

EA has extended the Hasbro lineup beyond consoles to more interactive platforms over the past 18 months with Pogo.com™, and through EA Mobile™, with mobile devices like the iPhone®. To date, Hasbro-licensed board game properties for mobile have made it into the Top 100 Paid Apps on the App StoreSM including: SCRABBLE (in the US and Canada only), BATTLESHIP, BOGGLE, CLUE, TRIVIAL PURSUIT, THE GAME OF LIFE, CONNECT 4, YAHTZEE Adventures, MONOPOLY, and MONOPOLY Here & Now: The World Edition.

In addition, three new Hasbro-licensed online games released by EA were added to the Pogo line up in 2009: BOGGLE Bash, BATTLESHIP and MONOPOLY Slots. These new offerings joined previously released titles such as SCRABBLE, MONOPOLY Here & Now: The World Edition, YAHTZEE Party! and TRIVIAL PURSUIT, all of which were in the top ten of all Pogo games in terms of worldwide visitors and minutes played. In December 2009, over 4.3 million game play minutes of SCRABBLE were logged on Pogo4.

The LITTLEST PET SHOP video game franchise from EA has shown robust growth selling more than 3.5 million units since the first wave of games were released in October 20081. In 2009, the digital franchise expanded when the company launched LITTLEST PET SHOP Online, an Internet-based game and online community allowing girls to create their very own LITTLEST PET SHOP pets, chat with friends, play fun games and explore a dynamic online world. LITTLEST PET SHOP is also now available on the iPhone and iPod touch®, and as DsiWare™.

For boys, the NERF ”N-Strike” video game franchise has delivered over-the-top action, and families around the world have gathered to play HASBRO FAMILY GAME NIGHT and HASBRO FAMILY GAME NIGHT 2, with both game franchises also selling more than one million units each1. In addition, MONOPOLY titles boasted strong sales selling over one million units across console platforms1.

EA’s Hasbro-branded games have also had a strong presence on Xbox LIVE® Arcade (XBLA), with seven games launched in 2009 under the HASBRO FAMILY GAME NIGHT umbrella, surpassing 500,000 paid downloads. The portfolio of games was ranked #4 in the most popular Arcade games on the LIVE Service for 2009, based on connectivity. HASBRO FAMILY GAME NIGHT on XBLA features classic and party game modes of family favorites such as SCRABBLE (in the U.S. and Canada), CONNECT FOUR, BATTLESHIP, YAHTZEE, BOGGLE, SORRY! and SORRY! Sliders. All games are available for 800MSP each.

“Hasbro’s powerhouse alliance with EA continues to deliver big hits for casual gamers around the world across every major platform,” said Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Digital Gaming and Media at Hasbro. “Together, we continue to re-imagine the Hasbro-branded play experience and put it at the fingertips of consumers so they can ignite Hasbro-style fun any time, any place.”

USA Boxart

Southpeak have announced that 3D Dot Heroes is coming out in PAL Countries on May 14th. Southpeak have also announced that UK gamers will be able to get their first hands on with the game at the Midlands MCM Expo, 10th February.

Press Release

LEICESTER, England & MIDLOTHIAN, Va. --(Business Wire)-- Feb 10, 2010 Leading videogame publisher, SouthPeak Interactive Corporation (OTC BB: SOPK), today announced that retro gaming delight 3D Dot Game Heroes, for the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system, will be playable at the Midlands MCM Expo on February 20th at the Telford International Centre.

Visitors to the show – which caters for fans of films, anime, manga and videogames – will have the opportunity to experience 3D Dot Game Heroes’ infectious nostalgic charms for themselves and even go hands-on with a section of the game for the first time ever in Europe. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

“The MCM Expo is the perfect place to debut 3D Dot Game Heroes,” said Ed Blincoe, European marketing director, SouthPeak Interactive. “With its retro gaming chic and parodies of classic Japanese RPGs, we’re sure that anime and manga fans in particular - or those who fondly remember the bygone days of videogaming - will be queuing around the booth to be among the first to play it.”

3D Dot Game Heroes will be available in PAL territories on May 14th – just days after the North American release. For more information about the game, head towww.3ddotgameheroes.eu. For more details about the Midlands MCM Expo: http://www.midlandsmcmexpo.com/
