Forza 3 V8 Super Cars

Press Release

V8 Supercar racing is on the rise, quickly becoming a popular spectator sport around the world, in addition to being the fan-favorite race type in Australia and New Zealand. Sept. 11-13 will mark Supercar racing’s L&H 500 Phillip Island, so it’s only fitting that the racing enthusiasts at Turn 10 would reveal that “Forza Motorsport 3” will feature eight versions of the well-known Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon when the game releases on October 22nd in Asia, October 23rd in Europe and October 27th in North America.

Often referred to by fans as a hybrid between NASCAR and the British Touring Car Championships, the V8 Supercar series runs strictly homologated 5.0 liter pushrod V8 engine cars from manufacturers Holden and Ford. The fact that the two cars used by the 19 teams in the league consist of the Holden Commodore and the Ford Falcon is no coincidence; in Australia, both the Commodore and the Falcon are popular people-movers and the drama of the on-track rivalry between Holden and Ford is something unique to pop-culture Down Under. Unlike NASCAR, the V8 Supercar races are held on road courses as opposed to ovals, with drivers battling for position, often with full-contact results.

The team at Turn 10 is pleased to encourage this budding branch of racing, as “Forza Motorsport 3” will include Falcons from Team Vodafone, Ford Performance, Stone Brothers, and Britek Motorsport, and Commodores from Toll Holden Racing, Garry Rogers Racing, Supercheap Auto Racing, and Sprint Gas Racing.

All cars will feature immaculately rendered interiors and extensively reinforced cockpits to handle any collision or rollover, just like their real life counterparts. Players will realistically experience their favorite V8s to a degree that, until now, was only possible in their dreams.

Press Release

MEXICO CITY --(Business Wire)-- Sep 02, 2009 Spanish speaking fans of Club Penguin can now waddle around, interact and play games in the popular, snow-covered virtual world in their own language.

The new Spanish version of the virtual world (www.clubpenguin.com/es) is supported by native Spanish-speaking staff that understands the unique cultural references of the audience and can provide timely and responsive moderation and player support as well as local currency payment options.

Lane Merrifield, one of Club Penguin’s co-founders and executive vice president of Disney Online, was in Mexico City to announce the launch of the virtual world in Spanish.

“We have significant numbers of Spanish speakers who have been playing the English version of Club Penguin, so creating a Spanish version for them and other kids around the world was a logical step in our continuing efforts to support our diverse audience. Our hope is to give every child an opportunity to experience the fun and creativity of Club Penguin in their native language,” says Merrifield.
The addition of Spanish brings the number of languages featured on Club Penguin to four. After launching in English in 2005, the online playground added Portuguese in November 2008, followed by French in March 2009.

“The Spanish version of Club Penguin creates a more immersive experience for the vast Hispanic communities across Latin America, Spain and the United States while maintaining the fun and safe online entertainment that kids and their parents have come to expect,” stated Diego Lerner, President, The Walt Disney Company Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. “Spanish-speaking children looking to explore and interact in this one-of-a-kind virtual world will no longer be confined by geographic or linguistic limitations, which is a perfect example of Disney’s strategy to create truly global, high quality entertainment for our audiences and fans.”

Club Penguin is one of the largest and fastest-growing virtual worlds for children. With its imaginative play environment,Club Penguin provides a wide range of opportunities for children to participate in fun and engaging skill-building games and activities, social collaboration, and real-world skill development.

The award-winning online playground has built a global reputation as an online environment that provides fun for kids and peace of mind for parents. Word filtering technology and live moderators monitor chat and activity on the site and work to prevent the sharing of inappropriate or personally identifiable information.

Club Penguin is designed for six to 14-year-olds but is fun for children of all ages. It’s free to play, however special features such as front-of-the-line access to game features, exclusive parties and opportunities to customize your penguin and igloo require a membership.

Press Release

Durham, USA – September 1st, 2009 – Funcom is pleased to announce the establishment of a new development studio in Montréal, Canada, where it will build a strong and competent development team that will work on several games in the Funcom portfolio. Besides tapping into the excellent talent pool available in the region, Funcom will also move a certain number of key personnel over to the new studio.

"Montréal has established itself as one of the world's most important locations for video game production, and we are looking forward to taking part in that success," says Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. "In addition to strengthening our North American presence, the new studio will take advantage of the great incentive programs offered by the Québec region, incentives that makes Montréal one of the most cost effective locations in the world for developing MMO games. This will in turn allow us to better balance our costs, making it possible for us to continue to expand our investments into the MMO segment."

Funcom is one of the most multi-cultural game developers in the business, with over 320 employees from all corners of the world employed at the company's offices in Norway, the US, China, and Switzerland. The company has developed more than 20 titles since its founding in 1993; including the critically acclaimed `The Longest Journey' and `Dreamfall' adventure games. Funcom is currently working on the expansion pack for `Age of Conan' called `Rise of the Godslayer' as well as its new MMO `The Secret World'. Developers at the Montréal studio will play an important role in the development of both of these games.

"It has been a pleasure for us to work with Investissement Québec in setting up our Montréal studio and we are very thankful for the strong support they have given us throughout this process," says Ole Schreiner, CEO of Funcom's new Montréal studio. "We are excited about the opportunity that Montréal represents to our company, not only because of the great incentives offered by Québec, but also the authorities' strong commitment to training qualified video games personnel and building a video games cluster in Montreal and Quebec."
