Lexis Numérique Reveal Amy, A Single Player Survival Horror Game For The Playstation 3 PSN

Lexis Numérique have revealed Amy, an upcoming Survival Horror game thats coming to the PS3 PSN in Q2 2011. The game is set in 2034, Global Warming is happening, disease and natural disasters are spreading across the world. The town of Silver City, Midwest USA, has been affected by a Comet. You play as Lana and as the game starts, you've only just regained consciousness.

Things are not all right in Silver City. Violent outbursts, fury, rage, wreckage and death: the world she knew seems to have torn to Hell. As if struck by a mysterious virus, most of the ones she knew have now become part of a wild horde. Lana knows she needs to escape, but she knows she's also infected. but then there's Amy. a little defenceless girl who she decides she will save and keep with her. "You can lose your way. You can lose your mind. But never lose Amy."

Lexis Numérique have revealed some features of the game, some of which are unique to Amy:

Unique & deep gameplay that features extensive cooperation with a character to be protected
Contrary to several games with a secondary character, Amy (the child you have to protect) is neither a super warrior nor a docile character that follows you. You are able to use her small size and weight to reach inaccessible areas, ask her to do specific actions and you’ll even be able to use her mysterious gifts. But she will need to trust you and you might accept to get hurt to keep her safe.

Story-driven survival horror game set in a cinematographic atmosphere
Amy is based on a rich, addictive and twisted story-based scenario. Strong efforts have been put on the characters backgrounds and behaviors but also on audio, sound design and a very unique use of camera setting to create emotion

Original stealth-action gameplay that includes fierce close combat
Lana and Amy are often weaker than their enemies. You can choose to confront them directly by using improvised weapons for close combat. You can run or try to push them away but you can also use hiding places and prefer stealth action. Lana being infected by the virus, she mutates when exposed too long and end up dying if not cured or protected by one of Amy’s special powers. But when infected, Lana can lure her enemies and move without being attacked.

Wide range of enemies with strong AI
Lana and Amy are facing various kinds of enemies that can detect sounds, heat, movements and much move. They also can act in hordes and exchange information. Some groups of enemies being aggressive to each other, you can try to escape by triggering a fight between them.

Rarely seen before quality of graphics and animation on PlayStation®Network
Amy might be one the first games on PlayStation®Network with such a level of rendering detailed modeling and motion capture animation.

Puzzles to unravel arching storyline
Running, hiding and fighting are core elements of the gameplay. However, you’ll sometimes need to use your wit to get out of delicate situations.

OVERVIEW

Amy is the new game by Paul Cuisset, creator of mythic games such as “Flashback” or the “Moto Racer” series.
December 2034. Global warming has taken effect, spreading disease and natural disasters around the world. The small town of Silver City (Midwest, USA) has been directly affected by a comet that has come crashing down. When Lana regains consciousness, everything around her is just mayhem. Violent outbursts, fury, rage, wreckage and death: the world she knew seems to have torn to Hell. As if struck by a mysterious virus, most of the ones she knew have now become part of a wild horde.
Despite her wounds, she knows she must run as far as possible to escape this nightmare: the viral process has begun inside her but she refuses to become one of them. The presence of Amy, a strange little girl who seems defenseless, will force her to make choices that will change both their lives.
Infected humans, grisly creatures, Special Forces and even other survivors: they will have to trust and help each other to escape their pursuers in their attempt to survive.

What Have You Played This Week?

Ok, I admit I didn't play Darkstalkers this week but the game has moved into my PS3 console and is all set up to be played. So I should have several hours worth to talk about next week. Apart from that, I didn't get as much gaming in as I hoped.

Football Manager 2010 – PC – I've had a great start with Havant & Waterlooville. Injuries have been annoying and i've had to make use of the loan market. I'm top of the league, had a fun little FA Cup run...and overall things appear to be going great and I look set to get promoted already, its coming up to the end of December.

Killzone 3 – PS3 – of course I got the game. I've not dived into the single player mode, instead I tried out multiplayer. The first game I did terrible, but once I understood menus and got used to being powerless I soon regained my high scores. I do have one issue however. Those who follow these know I played a lot of Killzone 2 multiplayer recently. Well, with Killzone 3 there just appears to be more menus with less information that stand between you and playing a game...and once your done with a game there are more menus, granted these have some decent information, but you can only exit the game from one of these menus. Apart from that its great, looks great, fun maps, and its...great.

Pac-Mac Championship Edition DX – PS3 – I played through another set of tasks for the stage before the stage called Championship I. Its still fun, good in little bite sizes. It would've been nice to see friends scores easier, but I doubt there'll be any more patches for this game.

Bejeweled Blitz – Xbox 360 – i've played the Facebook game a lot and high hopes for the 360 version. So much so I dived in and bought it without trying it out first. Big mistake. Forget how Bejeweled 2 plays on the 360, and forget how Blitz looks on Facebook. The start screen is a mess, the background is all over the place and has a look i'm not comfortable with. In the game, to move the jewels around you have to use the XAYB Buttons. You use the left analogue stick to move the cursor, once you highlight a jewel you then have to use the face buttons to move it. This is very hard to get used to. Another issue is the size of the grid you play with. It's just soo big. I can't sit too far back from my screen, but i've not had an issue with games like Puzzle Quest II. In this game its soo big that its hard to see the whole screen. The size is also compounded by the slow moving of the cursor and the crazy control method all makes it hard to get a speed bonus or two.

Split/Second – PS3 – this was another game i've picked up for less than £10. I tried a couple of races, its a lot of fun, but i've not really got into it yet.
