The Digital Comics Reader On The PSP Has Been Updated

Sony have announced that the Digital Comic reader app for the PSP has been updated. the update brings the app to 2.01 and brings the following changes and additions to the App, as well as a few cosmetic changes:

Collection browsing
* If you're running out of free space, you can now delete comics from your collection. Simply browse to the item details and press the [square] button. You can also delete single items or a series from the carousel (don't worry - you can freely re-download items that you delete as many times as you want!)
* You can now choose to browse any titles in your collection by publisher
* Your comics are now automatically categorised in multiple genres. All titles in your collection, old or new, will benefit from this change. Sadly, we don't yet have a "Zombie" genre.
* The database system has been overhauled and is now much faster to update and access.

Reading
* Support has been added for media formatted to be read right-to-left (Manga, for example). AutoFlow controls are reversed when reading in this mode.
* Can't wait to find out what happens next? If you have multiple issues of a series, the Reader will offer to move on to the next issue when you reach the end of your current issue.

Music & Sound
* The MP3 Player has been renamed as the Music Player, and now supports music in MP4 and AAC format. MP3 support has also been improved.
* Any comics with a soundtrack or audio commentary (found in the Extras tab in the comic summary screen) now indicate the progress of lengthy audio clips. Audio clips are no longer interrupted by turning the page or by AutoFlowing backwards.
* The PSP Remote Control is now supported. With a music track active, you can use the Remote Control to pause/unpause, and to trigger the previous or next track in the current playlist.

You can download the app from the link below, or you can use your psp. on your psp, you can check the version of the comic app by hitting triangle and selecting version information, and following the prompts to download the new version.

Press Release

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. – June 15, 2010 – THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) announced today that a slate of video games based on DreamWorks’ Megamind™, the forthcoming feature film from DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. (NASDAQ: DWA), are currently in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, Wii™ and Nintendo DS™.

Scheduled to release this November in conjunction with the feature film’s release on November 5th, the video games will extend the film’s supervillain-turned-superhero storyline with new characters, environments and twists, giving players the chance to experience the comical and over-the-top adventures of the Megamind universe right in their own living room. Three unique gameplay experiences are being designed: The Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 games will deliver a social and interactive experience with two-player cooperative play; the Wii game will provide mega team party style fun with a multi-player, competitive experience; and the Nintendo DS and PSP games will present players with an entertaining, on-the-go, solo-style functionality. The games will also feature the voice of actor Jonah Hill (Megamind, Get Him to the Greek, Superbad), who will reprise his role from the film.

“We have an incredible relationship with DreamWorks Animation and worked closely with them on the development of the video games to explore fun and creative ways to approach the storyline and evolve the characters in Megamind,” said Martin Good, Executive Vice President of Kids, Family, Casual Games and Online Global Services, THQ. “These new games will extend the movie experience for fans by presenting gamers of all ages with high-energy, multi-faceted gameplay that immerses them into the humorous world of this new superhero property.”

“We’re extremely excited to kick off our new collaboration with THQ on the Megamind game,” added Kerry Phelan, Head of Worldwide Consumer Products, DreamWorks Animation. “We’re very impressed with how the THQ team got so immersed into the world of Megamind and translated our film in so many new and exciting ways into the interactive game space.”

About the Video Games
Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3: In this two-player cooperative action-adventure game, a sudden crime wave has hit the city, calling Megamind into action. As Megamind, players must defend the city after his untested and unstable inventions are stolen by a group of new enemies called “The Doom Syndicate”. To defeat these vile villains, players will have to operate a variety of Mega-Gadgets, including Tesla Gloves, the Battlesuit and Sticky Boots, as well as build ingenious inventions such as the Mega Essence Tracker and the Bio Essence Neutralizer. The game also offers six side mission mini-games and cooperative play with one of Megamind’s trusty Brainbots.

Wii: In this classic brawler game, players can choose from up to nine characters from the film and beyond to form a four-player “Mega Squad”. The extensive multiplayer campaign includes Competitive, Cooperative and team-based gameplay modes. In addition, artificial intelligence (AI) players can be used to keep the four-player action challenging and fun!

Nintendo DS and PSP: In this on-the-go mega-adventure game, players set out as Megamind, using an arsenal of blasters to smash and blast their way through enemies. Players can switch blasters on a whim in order to put an end to the city’s crime wave.

WiiWare

Art Style: Rotozoa™
Publisher: Nintendo
Players: 1
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)
Price: 600 Wii Points™
Description: Control a circular creature-like organism known as a rotozoan and nimbly make your way through level after level of primordial ooze. Comprised of only three distinct parts (colored sides, tentacles and life force), the focus of your rotozoan life is simple: grow your tentacles. After playing a few levels and learning the basics of your microscopic world, you begin to unlock additional modes of play and the ability to choose the number of tentacles on your rotozoan. Each mode has its own specific purpose: reach a particular length with your tentacles or grow them to the greatest length possible. In either mode, growing your tentacles means absorbing enemies known as goobugs by touching them. There's just one catch: Successfully absorbing a goobug depends on matching its color to your tentacle. Also, longer tentacles can more easily come in contact with incorrectly colored goobugs (causing damage to the tentacle and decreasing your life force), and the goobugs themselves multiply and begin adapting to your movement. Luckily, objects such as the restorative heart item and special attack-enabling cyclone item can be found floating in the ooze to help your rotozoan survive. With atmospheres ranging from peaceful to intensely challenging, Art Style: Rotozoaoffers a wide variety of levels. Victory can only be achieved through quick, precise movement and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Are you ready to take on the goobugs? Games in the Art Style series feature elegant design, polished graphics and pick-up-and-play controls, creating an experience focused purely on fun and engaging game play.

Well, lol, as you can see i didn't do too well. the big change in how all 3 of the console makers did their conferences meant many of my predictions would never be mentioned during their conferences.

I Honestly thought this would be Sony's last big PSP push, but it ended up being just a side mention, the PS2 got even less attention this year. I also thought Sony would continue the social trend they started last year and digital TV, but instead they focused on the casual Playstation Move stuff. I didn't expect a Sly Collection, but i did predict more PS2 collections. The Cross game voice chat could still come to the PS3, it was mentioned on the show floor but no time was mentioned for when it'll come. The New firmware update was also mentioned on the floor, its set to come June 29th, but as it wasn't mentioned at the conference i haven't included it.

I thought Nintendo would bring more Channels to the Wii, like youtube, in an attempt to add greater life to the console, but instead the entire Wii focus was on new games. I also thought there would be a last big push with the DS before the 3DS comes to market, but it also got little mention at the conference. on the show floor there are several games coming, but in the conference Golden Sun was the only game getting a mention. I was right in saying the 3DS was going to have a large line-up, a vast improvement over the DS launch, but i really thought some DS games may have some 3DS features, and as the 3DS plays DSi games i expected some announcement regarding how to get DSi games you own onto the device.

Microsoft was a little more difficult to predict. it was obvious they were going to push Kinect, but i didn't predict they would leave the Hardcore 360 gamer behind in the extent they did. The 360 Slim was obvious, and Microsoft have said that it is replacing the Arcade Unit, but i didn't expect them to have enough to replace the Elite unit straight away. I Don't think Kinect Showed well at Microsoft's E3 press conference, the games were mostly causal, the scripts were terrible, and some of the games didn't Demo well. The press conference also showed off a new NXE for Kinect that was hardly talked about at all, apart from the voice commands. The ESPN wasn't a shock either, but read the small print as it'll cost for most people, as they were very muted when Sony announced MLB.TV and i thought that they may have something themselves.
