In addition to its extensive creative and online offerings, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 will include a number of key franchise updates. The WWE Training Facility will provide players with a franchise-first in-game tutorial, making it simple for both long-time fans and newcomers to get helpful gameplay tips and practice moves with their favorite Superstars and Divas. The game’s Road to WrestleMania story-based mode, introduced last year to high acclaim by consumers and press alike, returns with interactive cut scenes showcased within six brand new storylines, including a Create-a-Superstar storyline and a Divas storyline. In addition, a robust talent roster will include more than 60 playable Superstars and Divas, many of whom will make their videogame debut, as they represent the Raw, SmackDown and ECW® brands. A high-profile soundtrack rounds out the gameplay experience, including “Still Unbroken,” the new single from Lynyrd Skynyrd’s upcoming album, God & Guns, as well as songs from artists such as Skillet, Sick Puppies, Adelita’s Way and Trivium.

THQ - JAKKS Pacific Gives Notice to Extend WWE Videogame License; THQ Disputes Notice - Press Release

Jakk Pacific has a partnership with THQ over the WWE license. Jakk have taken up an option to extend this license from December 31st 2009 for another 5 years.
THQ, however, have not decided yet if they are going to extend their WWE License and have started court proceedings against Jakk Pacific to stop this move.

Press Release

MALIBU, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Jul 01, 2009 JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (NASDAQ:JAKK) announced that it has notified World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (“WWE”) that the joint venture between THQ and JAKKS intended to exercise its option to renew the WWE videogame license, which would otherwise expire on December 31, 2009, for an additional five (5) year term ending December 31, 2014. Separately, THQ commenced a lawsuit in California Superior Court, Los Angeles County, claiming it was not ready to make a decision with respect to renewal of the WWE videogame license, and seeking a declaratory judgment that (i) JAKKS was not authorized under the parties’ joint venture agreement to unilaterally issue a renewal notice to WWE, (ii) THQ has no obligation to consent to a renewal of the WWE license, and (iii) the restrictive covenant in the joint venture agreement prohibiting THQ from publishing any videogames based on wrestling during the term of the joint venture agreement (expiring one year after termination of the WWE license) is unenforceable under California law. JAKKS and THQ have also initiated arbitration proceedings relating to these issues.
