Sony Online Entertainment Announce The 7th Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game Expansion Is Out Now

Sony Online Entertainment have announced that the 7th expansion for the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game is now available for download. The Threat of the Conqueror adds over 200 new playable cards, and 30 loot cards, to the game as well as 10 new story scenarios.

In the expansion, you have to aid the Alliance Renegade Squadron as they try to gather intelligence on the modified Star Destroyer, dubbed the Conqueror.

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. – MARCH 16, 2010 – LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) announced today the release of Threat of the Conqueror, the latest expansion in the successful Star Wars Galaxies™ Trading Card Game. Players can aid the Alliance Renegade Squadron as they gather intelligence and locate the Empire’s modified Star Destroyer - dubbed the Conqueror - which holds within itself the ability to destroy entire planets, or they can take the side of the Empire’s elite storm commandos as they work to crush the Rebels and ensure the maiden voyage of the Empire’s newest deadly weapon. No matter what side they choose, ten new story scenarios will pull them into the fight in this pivotal battle between good and evil. This new set also brings the ability to boost gamers’ light or dark side deck with all-new special-forces themed cards, as well as all-new Bith and Duros avatar race cards.

The Threat of the Conqueror adds more than 200 new playable cards, including 30 new loot cards, to the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game, bringing the total number of cards in the game to more than 1,800. The new playable cards will feature unique keyword abilities that:
• Grant “Intel” labeled units additional bonus powers when they come into play, allowing for more tactical options within a round
• Enable stacking “Reinforcement” bonuses which adds the ability to play additional reinforcement units as the length of gameplay increases

In addition, this expansion introduces new cards to the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game, including:
• Player-Created Art Cards – The Star Wars Galaxies Galactic Civil War Photo Contest winners are unveiled. One Rebel-themed winner, one Imperial-themed winner and one neutral-themed winner have had their submitted screenshots turned into art cards in Threat of the Conqueror.
• New Loot Cards – More than 30 new special-forces themed loot cards will be available, including the AT-PT Walker Vehicle, the Vehicle Garage and the imposing Republic Gunship Vehicle Collectible Item.

The Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game marks the first-ever Star Wars® trading card game offered exclusively online. Available to both current and former Star Wars Galaxies subscribers*, the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game provides players with an entirely new gameplay experience by combining the challenge of a trading card game with the adventures and community of a massively multiplayer online game. Players can build their own virtual decks to fight in story mode, and participate in epic one-on-one matches, cooperative heroic encounters and official tournaments.

In addition, all Star Wars Galaxies subscribers with current, valid, paid accounts in good standing are automatically eligible to receive five digital trading card booster packs each month included with their paid Star Wars Galaxies subscription at no additional cost, providing a quick and easy way for them to build their decks.

Sony Online Entertainment Announce A Star Wars Galaxies Game Update Is Available

Sony Online Entertainment have announced that Star Wars Galaxies Galactic Civil War: Forces Under Siege has received a game update as well as a new program to get old players back to the game.

Sony Online Entertainment have announced they are offering former Star Wars Galaxy players a chance to come back to the game. from February 1st to March 1st, old players can play for free with their old accounts. Those who decide to come back to Star Wars Galaxies will get a exclusive in-game item.

The Game Update, which is out already, includes the following:

o New Gameplay:
  • Cities will display Imperial or Rebel banners and faction-specific NPCs, quests, terminals and pylons depending on which faction is in control
  • Added support for Factional Mercenaries. Neutral players can align themselves with either faction to participate in city conflicts and earn rewards
  • Mayors of player cities are able to set their city’s factional alignment from the management terminal
  • Fight battles within newly implemented Planetary Regions to determine which faction controls a planet
o New Interactive Structures:
  • Defend cities by manning barricades and building defensive turrets
  • Assault enemy cities and take out defense structures and key enemy personnel with the might of AT-AT or Hailfire missile attacks
o All New Profession-Based Quests:
  • Contribute to the battle with profession-specific quests that let players bolster defending or invading forces
  • Improve and repair defensive structures, revive fallen soldiers, heal fatigue, entertain demoralized troops, slice terminals, scout and sabotage patrol points, and more
o Epic New Rewards:
  • Battle-specific quests such as manning barricades, building turrets and treating wounded soldiers, now grant tokens that can be cashed in for new rewards, including: faction-specific clothing including capes, cloaks and battle-scarred armor; Entertainer glow sticks; bombing-run binoculars; an upgraded personal shield generator and multiple new weapons

WHAT: Beginning today, the Star Wars Galaxies™ Galactic Civil War: Forces Under Siege game update is available for Rebels and Imperials alike. Sony Online Entertainment is also offering eligible former players the opportunity to come back to Star Wars Galaxies for free between February 1 and March 1. With the balance of power in the galaxy at stake, anyone who can tote a blaster or lend support is needed on the front lines! Eligible player accounts will be automatically reactivated – players can simply log in to rejoin the action! For those who choose to re-subscribe before the free period ends, a special in-game painting will be given as a reward.

Sony Online Entertainment Announce Halloween Events In Their Online Games

Sony Online entertainment have announced this years Halloween events for their online games.

Free Realms is getting a Spooktacular in its latest update. there will be new decorations, trick or treating, mini games, 14 new quests, 2 new trading game packs, and more than 35 new costumes. The Spooktacular will run from October 14th through to November 11th.

Everquest has a Harvester Haunt. there will be new quests and awards. also, players have to track down a gravedigger called Edmund Strangeways in the Plane Of Knowledge. this even is scheduled to run from October 24th to November 7th.

Everquest II has the Nights Of The Dead. there will be a new Haunted Hedgemaze in Nektulos Forest, a Haunted Mansion in Loping Planes as well as buildings decorated and trick or treating in Qeynos and Freeport. there will also be new quests and ghosts wondering around. this event is set to run from October 16th to November 9th.

Legends of Norrath players will have to save the citizens from Riverale from a Zombie invasion. the new scenario, called Brraaaaaainss!, will be open to new and existing players, and will be free. those who are successful in defeating the zombies will receive promo cards to EverQuest or EverQuest II. this scenario runs from October 15th to November 11th.

Star Wars Galaxies have a Galactic Moon Festival to take part in at either Moenia or Mos Eisley. there will be new costumes as well as the return of the Burning Ewok Costume. this will begin on October 20th.

Today, the hit online game Free Realms™ introduces its latest game update, Super Spooktacular, featuring decorations, daily trick-or-treating, mummifying minigames, 14 new quests, 2 new trading card game Quest Packs and more than 35 new costumes for players and their pets.

Sony Online Entertainment - Star Wars Galaxies announces a Fan Art Contest.

Sony Online Entertainment are celebrating the 6th anniversary of Star Wars Galaxies by announcing a competition for the fans. The competition is called Galactic Call to Arms Fan Art” and requires fans to submit art based of either screenshots or a original picture, of preparations before a battle within the Galactic Civil War

To celebrate the six-year anniversary of Star Wars Galaxies™, Sony Online Entertainment has announced the “Galactic Call to Arms Fan Art” Contest. Fans and budding artists are encouraged to submit their creations -- either originals or based off of screen shots -- which they feel best depict preparations before a battle within the Galactic Civil War. From gathering forces to training exercises, this is your chance to show off your artistic talents before an entire galaxy!

Winners will get their paintings added as new in-game structure painting schematics available to all players -- for a limited time. Submit your image to us and we’ll select the finalists, then present them to the community for a vote. The images with the most votes will be added to the game as new painting schematic.
