Sony Europe Discuss The PSP UMD Game Data Install To Memory Card Option

With the Football Manager Handheld series, Gran Turismo and the upcoming Dynasty Warriors 6 having options to install data from the UMD to the Memory Card, i asked Sony has this been available to developers since the PSP launch as it appears to be a recent development.

I also asked if there was a limit as to what a developer can do with this option, whether there is a limit to the file size, or if the game has to be playable without an install.

"Game developers could have done this manually since launch, with approval from SCE, but with a recent SDK release, SCE has added system support for this functionality. There is no limit, or rules around whether the game has to run without an install, at least not yet. We will continue to review the system to see if we do need to provide further guidance to publishers on usage of this feature as it gets further use."

So it appears that originally, only games like Football Manager Handheld, managed to get approval to install game data to the memory card, but with updates to the SDK its become more accessible to developers in general and appears that Sony has made it flexable as to how its used.

Sony Europe Confirm They Do Not Insist On Publishers Releasing Digital PSP Titles

Sony America had already said that they have not made it compulsory for publishers to release their games on the PSP PSN.

I Asked Sony Europe If They have a similar situation, they responded:

"SCE does not insist on digital releases of all PSP titles - it is the publisher's choice."

I Did ask if there will be a set date for when PSP titles have to be available on the PSN, but it got the same response.

Sony Europe Explain Why The UK/EU Do Not Have PSN Games Or DLC Available To Buy From Online Retailers

I asked a Sony Europe Representative is Sony had plans to have games available to buy from Online retailers like Sony America has done with Amazon.com. i also asked if there were plans for such a move in the future. this was their response.

"The reason we haven't done anything similar to SCEA and Amazon is due to them already offering product specific download vouchers and have done for some time, where as we have only just launched currency cards and not product specific. Therefore there are no plans at the moment to do something similar, but that does not mean it will change in the future. "

as you can see, for Sony America it was a natural progression of their existing deal. For Sony Europe, it sounds like their relationship with Amazon.co.uk is still early, but as they say, things can change in the future and they didn't seem negative towards such an idea.

New Feature – Sunday Editorials – QTE Gamers Gives Readers Chance To Have Their Own Editorials Published

Do you have an opinion, a comment about videogames? Do you think you can write about it. Well QTE Gamers giving readers a chance to have it published on a website, a important step for those looking to get in the industry and needing experience.
all you need to do is to email us your article

All we ask is that you have a title for the article that is to the point and explains what your article is about
For Example “ Eidos, is their method of combating piracy effective and have they taken the right stance?”

if you quote or mention another article, podcast, video, etc, then you must give us what it is and put it in the article
For example” the joystiq podcast [episode 123, 1:12.10 into the podcast] mentions that...”

if your article is going to be long, we ask that you provide a brief conclusion to it which we can put above the full article

“is Eidos right to put a game ending “bug” in their game to reduce piracy. Yes I do think they were right. It only effects the hardcore, those who have seek out getting an illegal version of it, and not the general public, who have been burned before with high profile games like Spore limiting them to only a couple of installs. Edios method is less evasive, less complicated, and provides the gamer with a “demo” and incentive to get the full game”

read more/comment

Full article would go here

if you have written something for another site, for a paper...then we do ask that you give us the link/name of the publication so we can mention in the post that its been published else where.

Don't worry if someone writes about something you were interested in, if you have a different opinion, or want to argue against/for their point, then still feel free to write in.

If you have any comments, or want me to give it a look over feel free to ask them.

So if your interested, if you think you can contribute then send us your work to qtegamers@googlemail.com

All those who get their work published will receive a direct link to it, you can ask to have your real name, website, twitter account, etc, mentioned. and each one will be mentioned in the re-caps and QTE posts in video.

QTE Posts in Video - Please Try And Comment

QTE Posts in Video is something new i'm trying. basically, i took two posts, the screenshots, character art, and game trailer and made a video podcast. there is some commentary, basically me just saying what was written in the post. for those who have itunes, could you give it a try. each one is slightly different, one has longer commentary than the other, and in one the vertical pictures have been rotated to fit better in landscape mode. if you can comment and say which is better, or if it's even something your interested in.

The trailer in one is supposed to be 4:3, whilst the other's trailer is widescreen 16:9

If these two are not turning up in the iTunes Store, then please head to http://qtegamers.podbean.com/feed

The podcast is compatible with the PSP, so if that interests you, you can subscribe to the RSS feed here http://qtegamers.podbean.com/feed. you'll need to download each episode individually, as you can't stream on a PSP.

if a video podcast doesn't interest you, don't forget you can listern to audio re-caps via the podcast feed also: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=328547861

A Way For iPhone Users To View Pictures In A Blog Post.

I was requested to provide a way for iPhone users to view the pictures on the site. as i use a flash slideshow, the iPhone is unable to view it.
Whilst i can't change this, i will provide a link above each slideshow, from now onwards, which iPhone users can use to go to the gallery and view the pictures from there. above each slideshow will be a title which has the link to the gallery.
A side note, the site is fully viewable by the PS3 browser, videos and pictures.

New Blog Feature - Read More Section on Posts

i've added a new feature to the Blog.
you will have noticed that on each post there's now a Read More/Comment Section.
the idea is that the you see the important stuff, pictures, videos, and if you want to read the press release or if there's more product related stuff, you click the Read More/Comment and it will take you to the post where you can read the whole thing and comment.

This will always be on the bottom of the post whether there is more information or not, but i'm afraid that's unavoidable for now.

First Of Many

Hello all, present and now.
Things look a bit bare at the moment, but over time i aim to develop this, as well as the twitter QTE, into something significant.
i am one person, so at times updating may be difficult, but please bare with me.

The aim of this blog is to offer greater news than our twitter feed provides, for those that want it, but to also offer a more personal view. if i'm playing a game and just love it i will say so and fully encourage you to comment and offer your views and support.
In the begining, it may also have thoughts on starting at site like this and managing the twitter site. difficulties in getting info, exclusives, pictures...etc...etc

The twitter can be found at http://twitter.com/QTE
