SEATTLE and DUBLIN, Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- PopCap Games, the worldwide leader in casual games, today announced the imminent launch of Bejeweled® 3, the first true sequel to its beloved flagship franchise in more than six years. Featuring a wealth of new content and triple the fun of previous installments in the series, Bejeweled 3 elevates the "match-3" category of puzzle games pioneered by PopCap a decade ago to an entirely new level. Bejeweled 3 will launch on December 7, 2010 via PopCap.com and other major portals in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific as well as at leading retail outlets throughout North America at a suggested retail price of US$19.95.

Beyond stunning, high-definition graphics and mellifluous music and sound effects, Bejeweled 3 is packed with completely new game experiences in addition to updated and expanded re-imaginings of the four original game modes from Bejeweled 2. Four all-new secret games including Ice Storm and Poker offer surprising new interpretations of the Bejeweled theme, while Quest mode features eleven mini-games — clever hybrids of Bejeweled game-play with other classic game mechanics — comprising 40 total quests.

"Casual video games have been popular going back to the 1980s, but the introduction of Bejeweled 10 years ago launched an entire industry," explained David Cole, founder and president of DFC Intelligence, the oldest research firm focused entirely on the video game market. "No other casual game comes close to the success of Bejeweled in terms of popularity and influence.  PopCap has been able to keep the franchise strong for 10 years because they have focused on quality and innovation and have not flooded the market with dozens of sequels. I fully expect Bejeweled 3 to not only be a big success in its own right, but also ensure the Bejeweled brand continues to grow in popularity over its next decade on the market."

New and expanded features in Bejeweled 3 will include:

"The challenge in creating a new version of Bejeweled is to innovate and keep it fresh and exciting without losing touch with the game-play that millions of people love. So we're very careful when we make changes to the core game, which is why it can take so long!" said Jason Kapalka, co-founder and chief creative officer at PopCap and co-creator of Bejeweled. "We've worked hard to make sure Bejeweled 3 retains the classic appeal of the earlier games while bringing a host of exciting new features to the table."

Since its introduction 10 years ago, Bejeweled has become one of the top 10 video game franchises in history. More than half a billion people worldwide have played the game, and over 50 million units have been sold across 17 platforms. SHANGHAI, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- PopCap Games, worldwide leader in casual games, today announced a deal with NCsoft, leading provider of online & MMO games, to bring PopCap's first online multiplayer social game service to Korea later this year.

PopCap World, operated by NCsoft, will launch with 13 of PopCap's award-winning games such as Bejeweled®, Plants vs. Zombies™ and Zuma® as well as an all-new multiplayer game, Super Zuma™, built exclusively for Korean players. Dublin, Ireland – April 8, 2010 — PopCap Games, maker of some of the world’s most popular video games, today announced that Bejeweled® Blitz, the 1-minute social adaptation of its mega-hit franchise Bejeweled for the Facebook® platform, is now available as a downloadable game for Windows-based PCs. Carrying a suggested retail price of US$19.95 and available exclusively at www.popcap.com/bejeweledblitz/ Bejeweled Blitz PC offers a range of enhancements to, and advantages over, the free Facebook game, including full-screen play, dramatically enhanced sound and graphics, dozens of new achievements and corresponding badges, and 1 million coins redeemable for “Blitz Boosts” — power-ups and other score-stimulating effects.

“Bejeweled Blitz is 10 years of the most popular puzzle game of the century packed into a minute-long experience,” said Jason Kapalka, co-founder and chief creative officer at PopCap Games. “It's the purest form of Bejeweled that we've ever concocted, factoring in everything PopCap has learned from a decade of development and feedback from millions of fans. By adding social and competitive elements and a time limit, we've distilled Bejeweled down to its essence with Bejeweled Blitz, and the new PC downloadable version makes the game available in the largest, most vibrant form factor yet by far. For some players this could be the version that takes their Bejeweled Blitz game to new heights.”

In the new Bejeweled Blitz PC, players can connect Facebook from the game's main menu and play the game from their PC without having to open a Web browser. High scores and corresponding star medals can be published to players' Facebook pages when they are logged in to Facebook. Blitz Coins are a new form of currency recently added to the game, which can be earned via gameplay or purchased and then redeemed for various Blitz Boosts — power-ups and effects to improve in-game performance.

Bejeweled Blitz, already available for Web and as an update to Bejeweled 2 on iPhone, has grown dramatically since its original launch on Facebook a year ago, now attracting roughly 11 million active users each month and more than 25 million users overall. Even more amazing, about 3.5 million unique users play Bejeweled Blitz every day, playing more than 100 million sessions per day and destroying half a billion gems per hour!

PopCap Announce A iPhone/iPod Touch Bejeweled 2 Free Update That Adds Bejeweled Blitz

PopCap have announced that they will be updating the iphone/iPod Touch version of Bejeweled 2 for free. The update will bring Bejeweled Blitz, which itself will get Facebook Integration, to Bejeweled 2.

Bejeweled Blitz for the iPhone/iPod Touch will have the same features as the Facebook. Facebook Blitz leaderboards will be shared with the iPhone/iPod Touch and you will also be able to see which of your friends are currently playing the game.

PopCap say that this is the first multiplatform game they have released which has interoperable adaptations of a game, the single interactive leaderboard for both the Facebook and iPhone/iPod Touch versions of Blitz, and also the first time that PopCap have taken a social game beyond the Web.

Press Release

SEATTLE, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- PopCap Games, the leading developer and publisher of the world's most widely played video games, today announced a free update for Bejeweled® 2 for iPhone™ and iPod® touch (collectively referred to below as iPhone). Bejeweled 2 is one of the five best-selling iPhone games of all time, and the new update, available at no cost to current owners of Bejeweled 2 for iPhone, adds an exciting new mode featuring Facebook Connect integration of the "Bejeweled Blitz" game previously found only on Facebook.com. The new iPhone Blitz game mode replicates the wildly popular connected version of the game that allows consumers to play anywhere, anytime, with scores and achievements reflected on their own and their friends' Facebook profiles. Bejeweled 2 for iPhone carries a list price of US$2.99 and is available worldwide via the App Store. Anyone who has previously purchased Bejeweled 2 for the iPhone can receive the new Blitz mode as a free update via the App Store or iTunes.

"Ultimately, social gaming is about being able to play games with and against your friends, and the new Blitz update for Bejeweled 2 on iPhone lets you play against your friends anywhere," explained John Vechey, co-founder and director of PopCap's social gaming initiative. "This is a natural next stage in our multi-platform and social strategies. Blending the Facebook and iPhone Bejeweled communities should prove very compelling for players."

The new Blitz update for Bejeweled 2 on iPhone offers the full feature set of Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook, including bonus multipliers, laser gems, star medals, real-time gem swapping (even while the gems are falling into place) and posting of scores to your (and your friends') shared leaderboards. Scores and medals achieved while offline will be recorded the next time you connect your iPhone.

After connecting to Facebook and launching the Blitz mode of Bejeweled 2, iPhone players will be able to see their full list of Facebook friends who are playing Blitz (either on the Web or on an iPhone), including pictures and their friends' scores - just like the leaderboard from the Web game. During play, scores are automatically uploaded to Facebook, including any earned achievement star medals. Leaderboards will seamlessly reflect scores achieved on both the iPhone and Web in a single integrated list so players can try to improve their scores and track their friends' performances from either place. This marks the first time that PopCap has released multi-platform interoperable adaptations of a game and the very first time that PopCap has extended social gaming beyond a Web application.
