Sony Announce PS Vita Firmware Update 1.80, Coming 28th August With PSOne Classics And Several Improvements

Sony have announced PS Vita firmware update 1.80. coming 28th August, this update brings PS1 Classics support to the Vita and Much More:

  • PS1 Classics - You can make settings changes and in some games take screenshots (not all games are supported by the PS Vita at launch, current announced titles are Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil 2.
  • Cross Controller - Support added for use in compatible PS3 games like LittleBigPlanet 2. to access the feature you need to go to Remote Play and hit the Cross-Controller Icon
  • Controls - control support has been added to the Home Screen and in some function with Music and Video players
  • Music - Playlist support, now able to transfer iTunes, M3U and M3U8 playlists using Content Manager
  • Web Browser - Reach Touch pad support added, able to scroll and zoom in/out
  • Video - Playback Speed and Repeat controls added
  • Photos - MPO Format can be viewed, 3D viewing on the Vita not supported
  • Group Messaging - New layout enhancements, now able to take pictures and attach them
  • Maps - Search For Location and Search For Directions added, now able to plant user flags
  • NEAR - near can gather information about location from surround wi-fi Points
