Press Release

CERGY-PONTOISE, FRANCE – 13 July 2012 – NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc. today marked another big milestone in the story of the NARUTO video game franchise with the news that the most recent game in the series, NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations, has shipped in excess of one million units worldwide since its Japanese launch in February and worldwide launch in March 2012.  The game’s popularity in North America and Europe has driven the title’s global success, with sales of over 420,000 in each region.  Japan and Asia is responsible for the other 160,000 sales to date.

“I am very pleased to announce today that we have successfully shipped over 1 million units of the game worldwide. As NARUTO Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 had previously also shipped over 1 million units, I would really want to thank all of the fans here,” said Yusuke Sasaki, producer of the Ultimate Ninja Storm series at NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc.  “Thanks to all the fans from all over the world who bought the game, I am very pleased to be able to announce this great news. But at the same time, I feel more responsibility to the fans. Also, we have announced the latest instalment of the Ultimate Ninja Storm series, called NARUTO Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. Everyone involved in this project is doing their best to satisfy all the fans from all over the world. So please stay tuned for the latest game.”

The titles in the NARUTO Ultimate Ninja Storm series are next-gen action games with beautiful graphics (dubbed “Ultimate Cinematic Quality”) in which the player has the feeling of playing an anime, not a game. The game includes not only new characters from the latest episodes of the anime, but also familiar characters from previous chapters. With more than 70 ninjas, the game provides the ultimate ninja battle experience spanning generations.

Also, the in-game implementation of over 65 minutes of brand new anime content from Studio Pierrot created a very big buzz with fans. Developed under the concept of a “ninja fighting game with a specialized battle mode,” an improved battle system and enhanced online battle mode were greatly supported by fans from North America and Europe, so NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc. is very pleased to announce that the game has shipped more than one million units worldwide.

NARUTO first appeared as a manga in Shueisha’s weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, and is now the #1 best-selling manga across Europe as well as being one of the most well-known TV anime series currently broadcast worldwide.

Developed by CyberConnect2, NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations for PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360® is the most recently launched title in the smash hit ‘NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja Storm’ series of games.  The game is available now worldwide.
