Sony Announced PS Vita Firmware Update 1.65 But Took It Down Due To A Technical Issue

Sony announced PS Vita firmware update 1.65 earlier today. however this update was taken down due to a technical fault. its not clear if this fault was with the firmware update itself or a technical issue their end. i personally was unable to get the update when it was available.

Sony listed the update as bringing the following to the Vita:

  • You can now disable the notification alert messages that indicate when friends sign in, messages are received and other activities. To disable these alerts, got to [Settings] > [Sound & Display] > check/uncheck [Notification Alerts]. Additionally, Notification alerts will now display for five seconds instead of three seconds
  • ‘After 10 Minutes’ has been added as an option in [Power Save Settings] > [Auto Standby]
  • An arrow will indicate when new activities are available in LiveArea
  • Caps Lock is now supported by the on-screen keyboard. Simply double-tap the Shift key to enable it
In the comments section of the blog it appears there were other features in this update:

“Denizens of NeoGAF using the fresh firmware have spotted extra features: improvements to how often Near updates, a percentage bar when installing a game and the ability to background download when manually selecting sleep mode.” Also some people say that the Minis from Plus are now working.

Sony say they will let people know when the update is back online. for those who already have it, Sony say they should continue as normal with their updated PS Vitas.
