Sony Reveal That PS3 Firmware 3.15 Brings Mini's And Data Transfer To The PS3

Sony has announced that Firmware 3.15 is coming out soon. The update will be optional, the PS3 won't Prompt you to download it so you have the choice to do it manually.

One of the key Features it brings is Mini's. These will be playable on the PS3. If you have already bought a Mini for you PSP/PSPgo you can download it onto the PS3 for free and play it. Every Mini released After 17th December is compatible, with previous Mini's becoming available soon after.


The Other Key feature this update brings is the PS3 Data Transfer. this function allows you to transfer data from one PS3 to another PS3. Games, Save Data, and Downloaded Videos can be transferred from PS3 to PS3. but these will be deleted on the original PS3. Photo's, Music, Videos will not be deleted from the original PS3.


Sony have released details on how to do the Data Transfer. All you need is a LAN cable and 2 PS3's.

"1. Turn both the current PS3 (A) and new PS3 (B) on and connect them with a LAN cable; PS3 (A) should be connected to the TV

2. On the XMB of PS3 (A), scroll to the Settings menu and select [System Settings] and then [Data Transfer Utility]

3. Follow the instructions on-screen and transfer data

4. After transferring the data, follow the instructions on-screen, and then connect PS3 (B) to the TV to view the XMB

5. If content that was downloaded from PlayStation Store was transferred as part of this operation, you must activate PS3 (B) before you can use the data. Log in to the PS3 system as the user who owns the content, and then select (PlayStation Network) > (Account Management) > (System Activation) to activate the system"
