What Have You Played This Week?

Not a lot this week. Katamari took most of my time, but i really wasn't feeling like playing alot.

Football Manager 09 – PC – Decided to start something new with Cheltenham. Not far in so far, but having an average start to the season. In the Bayern Munich game, I won the World Cup with Italy.

Motorstorm Arctic Edge – Demo – PSPThis demo was a disappointment. It was only 1 track, and only 2 laps on the track. But the graphics are amazing. I had heard that it looked good and it really does. The controls are good as well, using r1 for acceleration and l1 for brake feels right for it. X is boost and it is easy to press. The AI was good, and i've yet to win the demo, and so was the track itself. There are plenty of ways to race it, with bridges and snow drifts to add to the mix. Even though the demo is rubbish, the game still shine through. I'd recommend people play the demo.

Katamari Forever – PS3 – i've always enjoyed the strangeness of Katamari, but I haven't played any of the “Next Gen” versions. This game looks great. The art may be simple, but its the bold colours that are clear. In the game, there's a interesting coloured pencil effected on some of the levels and objects you pick up. The story is silly but fun, and the text chat in the game is mostly pointless, but inkeeping with the characters. I have managed to complete the game, its not too long. Its split into a Robot set of levels and King set of levels. Once this mode is finished it does unlock a mode called drive which plays the game at a much faster speed. There are also two other modes which can be unlocked. The trophies are not great, you may get around half playing normally, but to get most of them you'll need to work at it. The levels are ok, some feel like they funnel you around, whilst others can be challenging. There are a few slow down issues in the game, mostly when the Katamari increases in size and therefore the scope of the world has to change. One other issue is the camera. I feel that it doesn't deal well enough with when you are in corners or under something, which on some levels can be nearly all the time. This can be annoying, but thankfully this doesn't apply to all levels. Its a fine game with a few issues, but its a great Katamari game and fans would enjoy it.
