Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker Screenshots, E3 TRailer And Q/A

Konami has released some new screenshots, which i've added to the E3 Screenshots, and a Q&A with Hideo kojima where he talks about Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker on the PSP. He reveals what the teaser site, prior to E3, was all about, there will be a variety of cardboard boxes and the ability to customise your Snake character.

Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima, and new screenshots from the highly anticipated title coming to the PSP®
(PlayStation®Portable) system in 2010, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. This latest PSP installment picks up
where Metal Gear Solid®3 for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system leaves off as players take control
of the famed Naked Snake. Taking place in 1974, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker features original game design,
story and scenario by Hideo Kojima. The game takes the series in an exciting new direction with its incredible
visuals and its unique new game system designed specifically with the PSP in mind.
HIDEO KOJIMA – Q/A
1) I bet many users had expected the next MGS5 announcement. When did you start this project?
I actually had the plan for this project in mind while working on MPO. Back then, I intended to place the project in the hands of the next generation of creators at Kojima Productions. However, in the end, I felt that it was still a little too early to leave it completely in their hands, so I decided to take the reins.
This game is an MGS5-class game. I am supervising, designing, producing, directing, and editing this title together with the MGS4 team. Therefore in that sense, "METAL GEAR SOLID" has not ended, and the "METAL GEAR SAGA" continues.
2) You have been telling for many years that your ultimate theme is "Anti-war and Anti-nuclear weapon". Does this theme continue in this title?
Absolutely. The METAL GEAR SOLID series has always featured "Anti-war" and "Anti-nuke" themes. This title is no exception. In the event of an attack from a neighboring country, I believe that finding a solution through diplomacy is ideal. However, the fact is that even peaceful countries with no intention of retaliating still maintain armies just for the sake of deterrence. I am sure there are varied opinions regarding this subject, but I believe that it is our
generation's role to "create peace through discussion." What makes things complicated is that the youth of today have been born into a world where the current situation is the norm, so it's difficult to convey this message. That is why my hope is to have players ponder and learn about why there are people who advocate the "need for armies, military power, and nuclear weapons" so that they may realize "why things turned out the way that they did" while they play this game.
3) I understand that it is a tactical espionage action game but could you provide some explanation for bringing this title to the PSP platform? I saw 4 Snakes in the trailer presented at E3, is this COOP?
The game will be stealth-action based. I can't reveal too many details yet, but we are implementing features that can only be realized on the PSP platform that I believe everyone can look forward to. The game will be a little different from the METAL GEAR that players have come to know. However, the story can be replayed numerous times and the game is full of challenges to complete, so I feel that this title will really satisfy players with its long-lasting play time. Just as an example, do you recall the cardboard box at the end of the Peace Walker trailer?
In addition to that two-man box, we are preparing a variety of other different cardboard boxes this time around.
To give a little more insight into the game, you can, how shall I say... customize Snake according to your preferences and determine what kind of soldier you will use prior to embarking on your mission. For example KONAMI UNVEILS Q&A SESSION WITH HIDEO KOJIMA

there's heavy gear configurations that make a lot of noise, but that allow you to equip numerous weapons. Or, there are other configurations that won't allow you to carry many weapons, but will allow you to be light on your feet. We will be preparing a variety of other types as well. Being able to make decisions and plot a strategy will be one of the really enjoyable features of this title.
We are also working on a "growth feature" as well, where your character evolves. It will be a new type of system, so I hope everyone will look forward to it!
4) "You're known for boot camps and on site checks. This time which part you would like to stress about the reality in terms of game quality?
We conduct research in many ways and then begin game production. In regards to the quality of the game, the main staff of MGS4 are producing it. They are aiming for PS3 quality because they were creating MGS4 on the PS3 not too long ago. In reality it is hard to maintain the same quality as the PS3 but we strive for it and we are expressing this in ways only we can express it in.
5) Regarding the KJP countdown teaser site, there were several signs as a message, could you explain what this message is all about?

Aside from the Snake and Raiden visuals, we featured a total of 10 "symbols" and when all of these are rearranged,
they form connections to the announcements that we made at E3.
The first symbols that appeared were the number "5" and the letter "S" for Snake that represented PW which, to me, is a "5" class title. "

" not only hints at the lowercase lettering of "E" for E3, but it is the kanji for the word "snake."
Also, the symbol that appeared at the very end is the kanji "

" and represents a sunny background and the sunrise
that links to RISING.
The "RISING" of "METAL GEAR SOLID RISING" implies "the sun rising," "the sun shining," and "the sun shining on Raiden" that was revealed in the visuals on the HP. In addition, "RISING" also represents how "METAL GEAR SOLID" will be taking the next step up.
Going back to the symbols found on the HP, they also link to "the day of 360" and also to each of the titles that we announced at E3. When each of the symbols are rearranged, I think you'll be able to recognize E3, PSP, PS3, 360 and others. So everyone, how did you like it? Were your predictions on the mark?

First Screenshots Of FIFA 10 On The Nintendo Wii

EA has released the first screenshots of FIFA 10 on the Nintendo Wii. Much Like Grand Slam Tennis, the games has a stylised look but in this game the football players look more realistic than the tennis players in grand Slam Tennis.

New EA NHL 10 Blog Taling About The Game's Refinements

EA's latest Blog on the upcoming NHL10 talks about the games refinements. the blog focuses on that the major refinements were on the actual hockey, the little skills that makes hockey hockey. goalies especially were worked on after the goalies in last years NHL has several flaws which have been addressed.
A new feature in the game is Precision Passing, where the player has full control of direction and speed of the pass. New moves have been added to offense, whilst defensive AI has also been tweaked and improved.

What’s up everyone….Sean here to talk about some of the many gameplay refinements in NHL10. Before I get into it, I know you’re all dying to see some under produced, raw gameplay footage and I can tell you that we’ve got some clips to post. Litty has been capturing clips from the games that he’s been playing and we’re extremely excited to share them with you. I also want to thank everyone that has been following NHL10 on Twitter. We love hearing all the feedback and suggestions so keep it coming!
Now to the refinements…
One thing I really want to emphasize is that more than ever, this year we concentrated on making hockey. By that I mean that the focus was on all the little things that make hockey what it is from extreme displays of skill such as deking on your knees and shooting to bad bounces leading to goals.

The first thing I want to talk about is the goalies in NHL10. We literally had one programmer and one animator working on goalies all year around. We know that there were some holes in the goalie last year so my challenge to our guys was to make a perfect goalie. I wanted to ensure that our goalies had the ability to save anything shot at them. Once we had that, we could then start to give back goals in a controlled manner and ensure that we weren’t creating any ‘always goals’. I gotta give the guys credit, they added over 150 new goalie animations including saves from the butt, new kick saves, reach backs and swipe aways just to name a few which made the goalies extremely effective and much more dynamic. Once we had the goalies to a state that we liked, we brought in some of the top EASHL players in the Vancouver area to try and find holes. The first thing they did was try all the exploit goals from 09 which were unsuccessful but they did find a couple situations where the goalies could still be improved. We took that feedback and made the final tweaks. I should mention that I’m also extremely pleased with our additions for user controlled goalies which I’ll speak about at a later date. I will say that people who play goalie in the EASHL are going to be very happy with the improvements we’ve made. The guys in the office are having blast playing as goalie.

With better goalies, the play in the slot was a huge area of emphasis for us. I wanted the ability to one time loose pucks, especially on rebounds without throwing a check. We now have that and we’ve also captured a part of hockey that I’ve never felt in a video game before which is intentionally shooting for rebounds. Guys in the NHL do this all the time. They just shoot the puck off the goalie’s pads so that their teammate will have a chance at the rebound. You can do that this year in our game and I have to say that it’s really satisfying when you do it intentionally and score.

A new feature that we’ve added this year is what we’re calling ‘Precision Passing’. In a nutshell, Precision Passing allows you to have total control of the direction AND the speed of your pass. Your pass will go exactly where you’re left analog is aiming and the speed is controlled by how long you hold down the RT (or R2 for PS3). A quick tap will do a short pass and holding it down will lead to a harder pass. The key is that all passes are untargeted meaning that you can pass the puck into space and let your teammates skate onto the puck. You can also do things like banking passes off the boards to get around defenders or bank it to yourself.

On offense, we’ve added new moves that I’m pretty excited about. If you take down a star player on a breakaway, there’s a chance that he’ll end up on his knees with the ability to deke and shoot. We’ve also added bat-ins so if the puck is in the air, players will try to bat the puck into the net or the defensive team will try to bat it out of harm’s way. There is also a new fake shot that can be done by pressing R3. This is a great way to try to get the D-man to bite and go down or to freeze the goalie. One of my personal favorite ways to score right now is going leg kick to backhand high (like Crosby) but remember my paragraph about goalies above…well this move has also led to some unbelievable desperation saves which to are almost just as exciting to me.

Defensive AI was another big focus for us this year as we tried to make the defense more dynamic and less predictable. I think one of the first things you’ll notice when you play the demo (Yes, I said demo; No I don’t have a release date; But, I can guarantee that you’re going to be VERY surprised when you find out what’s in the demo) is that the D-men don’t always back right in on their goalie but rather try to stand you up more at the blue line or pinch you off earlier if you try to go wide. They also have better awareness of their positioning in the defensive zone so that you can’t dance them back and forth then go around them. The addition of boardplay has added a whole new dynamic to the defense as well as it gives the ai one more option against the boards. It allows them to contain players without over committing and getting beat.
