Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - November's Eggstra Work Event

Welcome to Switch Funday!

This weekend is November's Eggstra Work Event. I mistakenly thought, especially early on into the recording, that as well as doing the event i would be able to get this months Salmon Run item but i was wrong. so that'll be another video later. as for this Eggstra work event, my goal changed from getting the Salmon Run item, to getting to 800 points, to what i ended up chasing which was trying to get 1,000 points.

But it was not easy. this might be the most difficult Eggstra Work Event i've done in Splatoon 3. My teams and I only managed to get to the final wave once out of the 15 tries, and only to the third wave i think 3 times. It was the second wave that caused the most issues as it was a glowflies challenge. The other annoying thing was that i kept being stuck with the same two weapons. it wasn't until right at the end that i got to use the other two and i enjoyed using the Splatshot the most. Facing the same challenges with the same weapons got boring quickly. especially when the difficulty from wave 1 to wave 2 was already a big leap, but it was even worse if you did good or great as wave 2 got even harder. Nintendo need to do better at balancing Eggstra Work or patch the game so it can be more dynamic with the difficulty.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - Halloween Splatfest Tricolor - 15 Battles 8 Wins!

Welcome to Switch Funday.
It's day two of the Splatfest weekend so today's video focuses on the Tricolor game mode in Splatoon 3. I found that in nearly all games, it was very competitive. some games were more challenging than others, but overall it was a fun Tricolor and a fun Splatfest overall.

But, the online was even worse today than Saturday. the video file for this is over an hour and a half long. It took over 3 minutes for some matches to be found, there were also disconnections in the lobby and in-game, too. there was one game that lasted about 10 seconds! I haven't seen a splatfest with this many bad internet issues since around the launch of the game over a year ago.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - Halloween Splatfest - 15 Battles 7 Wins!

Welcome to Online Saturday.
It's a Splatfest weekend so today's video is on the "Which Would Be The Best Friend" Splatfest in Splatoon3. Our choices are between Skeleton, Ghost, and Zombie. I chose to join Team Ghost.

This was a fun Splatfest. i would say that it felt like the wait between matches was the longest it's been since the game launched. typically i'd have to wait 10-30 seconds at most but during this Splatfest i had waits two minutes or more. Other than that, it was fun because of how competitive it was. there were some real close games and others that ebbed and flow between the two teams. it was nice to get 2 x10 wins in this Splatfest, i rarely take part in them and even rarer win them. so to win two feels special.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - Getting October's Salmon Run Item

This month's #Splatoon3 #SalmonRun item is the Brinestone Jacket and like the other Salmon Run items, my goal is to get the item twice and pick the best of the two to keep. It took a long time to get the jacket twice. i had a few games where we couldn't even get past the first wave of enemies. there were two weird moments where in one game there were only 2 players and in another there was a big amount of slowdown that i don't remember experiencing in the game before. in the final job, my team and i did face off against the King Salmonoid but we were unable to defeat it.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - September's Tricolor - 15 Games and 6 Wins

Welcome to Switch Funday!

This weekend is the "Who would be the best leader?" Splatfest. Yesterday, Saturday, was the first day and i got in 15 games with 6 wins https://youtu.be/k9yyT8DdPVU. Today was the Tricolor event and it went just as well, again with 6 wins out of 15 games.

What didn't go well was the opposition. the idea with Tricolor games is that you're facing the other two teams. but out of the 15 games, i was only up against Fyre and Big Man teams 4 times! So this Tricolor day got a little boring by the end. it's a big reason why i changed from Bloblobber to the Gold Dynamo Roller. I don't typically play offensive with rollers so to make things interesting for myself i changed weapon and tried to be defensive and offensive. it was a nice challenge and it's not that bad. it is a bit too slow to fire so i'll probably change to something else.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - September's Splatfest - 15 Battles 6 Wins!

Welcome to Online Saturday.
It's a Splatfest weekend so today's video is on the "Who would be the best leader" Splatfest in Splatoon 3. our choices are between Fyre, Shiver, and Big Man. I chose to join team Shiver.

This Saturday's Splatfest went much better than the previous Saturday's did, https://youtu.be/wUTQmGapjWE. I wouldn't say any did was doing a lot better than the other, tho maybe Fyre's teams tended to get the bigger wins. i had a lot of fun and i'm thinking 15 games is the right amount for these Splatfests.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - September's Big Run Event

Welcome to Online Saturday!

This weekend is September's Big Run Event in Splatoon 3. This event has the Salmonids attacking the Um'ami Ruins map. This is one of the bigger differences between a Big Run event and Salmon Run. another is that because the regular maps are bigger than the Salmon Run maps, you don't always start each round in the same place. coupled with the 3 levels of sea water, this means there are 9 possible map layouts in Big Run. But, like Salmon Run, your scores in this event do contribute to getting the September item, which this month is the Retro Future Helmet. An added bonus for Big Run is there is an extra item to collect. everyone who finishes a game get's it, but those who get the most gold Salmonoid eggs get different colors of it.

Today's video is much longer than normal videos. i really wanted to try and get a high score as in the past my scores haven't been close to getting the better rewards. But as i kept on playing, i was able to try to defeat the King Salmonid twice and get September's item three times. Tho, at the end of it i didn't get a high score, nor was i able to defeat the king. but i do think this went better than August's Salmon Run, https://youtu.be/3_QhqMXLLbs, and the item i got had some great pins that are suitable for how i play. let me know in the comments what score you got.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - Getting August's Salmon Run Item

This month's Salmon Run item is the Retro Future Suit and like the other Salmon Run items, my goal is to get the item twice and pick the best of the two to keep. But unlike those previews Salmon Run videos, this month's challenge was the hardest i've ever done!

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - August’s Tricolor - 16 Games and 11 Wins

Welcome to Switch Funday!

This weekend is the  "What’s most important in life?" Splatfest. Yesterday, Saturday, was the first day and i got in 15 games with 4 wins https://youtu.be/wUTQmGapjWE. Today was the Tricolor event and it went much better!

A big highlight for me was discovering a new weapon i like to use. after yesterday's video, i went and bought a new weapon the #Bloblobber! for the first 3 games i used my other favorite weapon, the N-ZAP '89, but all the matches after that were with the Bloblobber.

I thought that the connection issues i had yesterday were better today, in that the disconnections only happened in the lobby rather than in-game, but the waiting for matches in the lobby were just as bad if not worse. Plus, as you can see (On YouTube) in the chapters below, there were plenty of matches were it was just Money fighting with Money against Money. i put a "*" to show which team i was on.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - August's Splatfest - 15 Battles 4 Wins!

Welcome to Online Saturday.
It's a #Splatfest weekend so today's video is on the "What’s most important in life?" Splatfest in Splatoon 3.

Today didn't go great for me. out of the 15 battles i did, my teams were only able to win 4 of them! there were some big losses, too. it has been a while since i last played Splatoon so i did feel rusty. But i also felt that in many of my matches i was teamed with others who simply wanted to attack, rather than do what's needed to win and that's ink as much of the stage in our color as possible.

I also felt, and mentioned it in the video a few times, that it took longer to matchmake this Splatfest than normal. Plus, there were disconnections during the game, of which i left 1 in the video at the start just to show what happens, as well as disconnections in the lobby. it has felt that the recent game updates have made things more unstable. i hope tomorrow's Tricolor event will go smoother, and better for my teams and I.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - Getting July’s Salmon Run Item

Welcome to Switch Funday.
I checked and i hadn't got this month's Salmon Run item, See-an-Enemy HUD (It looks like the scouter from DragonBall Z) so i decided to have a "relaxing" time with Salmon and get it.

It wasn't too bad, result wise, today as my teams and i managed to complete the third wave in half of the games. we faced off against the King Salmonid once, but we could only get it down to about half health. we faced it on the smallest stage, too, so it was extremely difficult.

One nice thing about this weekends Salmon Run was that i enjoyed more of the available weapons than normal, but i did seem to get the one i don't like a little too frequently. i also noticed, and complain about it in the video, that it felt like there was less communication from my teammates than normal.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - Ice Cream Tricolor - 12 Games and 3 Wins - Many Disconnections!

Welcome to Switch Funday!

This weekend is the Ice Cream Splatfest. Yesterday, Saturday, was the first day and i got in 13 games with 7 wins https://youtu.be/flBuwuQ2ncs. Today was the Tricolor event and it didn't go as well.

Today's big highlight was the poor internet connection. i had 3 matches disconnect, several disconnections from the lobby, and longer waiting times than normal. it was probably the worst since the first month or so.

Tricolor is always harder than the normal Turfwar event. and it really showed across these 12 matches. there were some big losses both when my team was attacking and when we were defending. we got in 3 wins, but i wouldn't say either of them were as big as some of the losses we had. what was fun was that in the last match my teammate and i nearly got the best score as attackers but right at the end the other attacking team just beat us to the best score. What was a little strange is that i didn't feel as comfortable with any weapon i used unlike yesterday. this is probably due to the stage the Tricolor event was taking place on.

After playing across these two days, i feel that Vanilla will be the winning team.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - July’s Ice Cream Splatfest - 13 Games, 7 Wins!

Welcome to Online Saturday.
It's a Splatfest weekend so today's video is on the Ice Cream Splatfest in Splatoon 3.

this has to be my best, or one of my best, days of playing Splatoon 3 ever! My teams and I managed to get 7 wins out of the 13 games i played. nearly all the battles were against Vanilla and they were tough. whilst playing them, when we won it rarely felt like an overwhelming win. But the competitiveness made it really fun and enjoyable. the stages also help, most of the matches i played were in more open areas which allowed for a lot of movement and inking.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - July's Eggstra Work Event

Welcome to Online Saturday!

I'm back after a little birthday break with a Splatoon 3 video. this first weekend in July is a new Eggstra Work event. this, i think, is also the first time that this event is open to anyone and not limited to you and your friends.

As this is the first time i've played this event, i wasn't too clear on the rules, but quickly understood that the team i'm on will face predetermined waves of enemies. whilst playing i thought that it was only 3 waves, but i had a quick read and it looks like it could be 5 waves. However, my teams never managed to defeat the third wave.

Whilst it was interesting facing the same waves over and over again, it got tiresome being stuck with the Slosher every game. i think i played 10 games and never got a different weapon. i tried backing out, i was put into different teams, but nothing changed. i always got the Slosher. ultimately, it was fine, but it's not my favorite Splatoon 3 event. it will be interesting to read in the comments if anyone else managed to beat the 3rd wave or even completed it.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - June's Big Run Event

Welcome to Online Saturday!

This weekend is June's Big Run Event in Splatoon 3. This event has the Salmonids attacking the Undertow Spillway map. this is the biggest difference between the regular Salmon Run mode and Big Run. Salmon Run has it's own set of maps whereas Big Run uses maps from the online mutliplayer.

Today's video is a little longer than usual as i had two attempts at beating the King Salmonoid. both times tho ended up in failure. Out of the 11 Big Run matches i did, i only managed to complete 3 of them. My high score from the event is 68 Golden Eggs. trying to get the most Golden Eggs is the goal of Big Run. at the end, my high score of 68 will go up against the high scores of everyone else who tried it.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - Playing The First Challenge Event

Welcome to Switch Funday.
I teased it in yesterday's video, https://youtu.be/RRILIgS2XWU, that i was going to try and do the first Challenge Event. i managed to get in 10 battles, winning 4, before i ran out of time.

What you'll hear throughout a lot of this video is confusion as i try to work out how this Challenge Event works. whilst the new weapons were all clearly shown, i feel like what this event is wasn't explained clearly enough. i feel that by the end, i got somewhat of a grasp of what this was all about. i'll try to explain it, but feel free to add in the comments if i make a mistake.

For the first Challenge Event, the challenge was simply playing the two new levels that were added in patch 4.0.0 (the Sizzle Update). a restriction was that only the primary ability of your gear would be activated (the first pin on your gear, not any other pins). A level/score for your ability is created over 5 matches. for me that was 808. any wins after that increases that score, whilst losses reduce that score. (i tried to show this a couple of times in this video). the "winners" are those who rank with the highest scores. you could play any of the three time slots, your highest score across all three would be your final score.

Looking at the Splatoon 3 Wiki, https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Challenge, it seems there's another challenge on June 6th so i may have a go trying to get in at least 1 time slot. the following other Challenges are listed but i don't know if i'll have time to try them all. but the challenge on 15th June sounds fun as i'll get to try out randomly selected weapons.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - Playing The 4.0.1 Update

Welcome to Online Saturday.
Splatoon 3 got it's big Sizzle Season update with patch 4.0.0 so this weekend i'm back trying it out. for me, i'm playing with the latest 4.0.1 patch.

The Splatoon wiki, https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Sizzle_Season_2023, has a great breakdown of what was added to the game. I had hoped to try out some of the new stuff and thankfully my catalogue level was high enough to try out the new main weapon Painbrush. the stage rotation meant i didn't get to try out Barnacle & Dime or Humpback Pump Track, but i do have a video coming for Switch Funday where i try them out. they were part of this weekends new Challenge Mode.

I got to play 14 matches today but only managed to win 5 of them. as ever it was fairly competitive and there were some close games. there was also 1 disconnection but i'm not worried about that.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - Getting May's Salmon Run Item

Welcome to Switch Funday.
Today i went and got May's Salmon Run item, the Commander Tunic. today's video continues my new edited approach to Splatoon 3 videos.

it was a successful Salmon Run today. it rarely goes smoothly and can sometimes take a long time to get the item twice. however, today things went really good. there were only a couple of early losses! most games either finished or got to the final round. this meant i even got a couple of extra matches in after getting the item this week. i had some great team wins with some great teamwork, something that's not a given. my team and i did face against a King Salmonid, but once again we failed to defeat it.

Switch Funday - Splatoon 3 - Zelda's May Splatfest - 15 Tricolor Battles!

Welcome to Switch Funday!

This weekend is the Zelda Splatfest so today i'm back with Splatoon 3 to take part of the Tricolor mode. if your unfamiliar with this mode, it pits all 3 teams against each other. there's always a team of 4 with the other two being teams of 2. those teams of s have to try and work together to beat the team of 4.

I got in 15 games today and thankfully there were less connection issues than in yesterday's Splatfest video, https://youtu.be/a3nPOvWj58s, tho my controller did die in the 14th match! i felt that today's matches were also far closer and more competitive than yesterday. my teammates and i got in 6 wins out of the 15 matches, far more than yesterday.

Online Saturday - Splatoon 3 - Zelda's May Splatfest - 13 Games, 4 Wins!

Welcome to Online Saturday.

It's a Splatfest weekend so today's video is on the Zelda Splatfest in Splatoon 3.

The firs thing i should mention is that this video is more edited than usual. due to a combination of disconnections, wind, and deliveries (or banging on my door due to win), this video ballooned to over an hour and 15 minutes and became somewhat disjointed. so there'll be times when my weapon changes or i comment about the disconnections. Going forward, i may try this more edited format in tomorrow's Tri Color video.

As for the Splatfest, well i didn't get many wins. what i noticed was that there wasn't just one team dominating. Normally, i get a feel as to which team is doing better than the others. but today, it felt like both other teams were coming out strong. throughout the video you'll see i'm up against teams who are taking this much more seriously than i am by looking at the pins they've attached or the weapons they're using. i wonder if the theme, The Legend of Zelda, has brought a more serious gamer to the Splatfest rather than something a little less serious like April's Monster Splatfest.
