What Have You Played This Week?

Killzone 2 - PS3 - i have now finally completed the game! the last part of the game is very hard, it took me hours to get past all the waves. still, i liked the end of the story, and really loved the game.

Peggle - 360 - Still fun, addictive, though i'm not really that great at it. nearly completed the first single player section.

Hitman:Blood Money - 360- I had always looked at this game and thought about getting it, so when i rented it i was excited. i hated it. couldn't even finish the second level. i hated the controls, the way it played...even some of the game mechanics. i don't think this holds up well nowadays.

Unreal III - PS3 - Been getting in some practice before mate gets his PS3 online and we can do it co-op. it's very good, graphics hold up well. and now my version got it's DLC, i'm looking forward to taking it online. doing single player at the moment whilst i hone i my skills

Flower - PS3 - it had been a while since i last played it, which is a shame cause i really like this game. the music, the graphics, the gameplay...it's all soo very good. it really is a must buy, and much like fl0w, i can see myself coming back to it time and time again

Feel free to comment on anything i've played and what you yourself has played over the last week.

Game Release Schedule - New Addition

Hello all, just letting you know that under the twitter feed (to the right of the blog page) there is now a UK release calendar for games. at present it only includes April, but i will try to get May done soon. i'll try to keep this up to date, but please understand that this is by no means a guarantee that the game is coming out when the list says.
this is a trial thing, depending on how manageable it is, will determine if it's a feature worth keeping. any feedback is welcomed, positive or negative.
i do apologise that this addition has increased the load time for the blog page a little, hopefully it won't be too much of an inconvenience.

It's simple to use, you should be able to just scroll it seeing the releases of the month. if your unable to see the whole game title, click on it, then click on more details. this should load up a new page where you can see the full name.

So please enjoy. as you'll see, there's a fair bit coming out in April, especially the 24th.

New Zero Punctuation: Halo Wars

Great video, with a nice surprise at the start!
whilst some things he says are what has been said about the game...with quotes like "as the exasperated Chinese zoo keeper said to the last male Panda in the world...Fuck That!"

And watch after the credits for a little short!

Xclusive - Astro Tripper 1.2 Update.

The kind folks at Pom Pom Games have kindly given me a quick/short list of the changes that 1.2 bought to Astro Tripper.

"friends now shown on high score page, (though not quite in the right order!)*

a new entry on the high score table shows those below it correctly
before the table sync

spider point trophy - description of how to get clarified

odds and ends"

* a further email with Pom Pom Games has made clear that a future patch will be released to fix this issue.

Woo, well happy. it's nice when i ask a company a question that they reply.
it's not some block buster news i know, but those who read the weekly "What Have You Played This Week?" will know that i do love this game, will know that it matters to me, and it's something i wanted to know.
and besides...baby steps, lol.

What Have You Played This Week?

Killzone 2 - PS3 - i finally moved onto the single player part of the game, and really enjoying it. interesting battle scenarios, good level design, and wow...the graphics are still really good.

Peggle - 360 - The game that broke my previous 360 finally got played. not much to say, it's Peggle, it's addictive and i'm really enjoying it.

Shadow Of The Colossus - PS2 - finished the game, and soo proud that i played it. such an interesting game, whether its the graphics, music, story or gameplay. none of it disappointed, and the ending was superb.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core - PSP - only done a little bit more of story and side quests. i find it's a good game to play when you have some free time to fill.

Street Fighter IV - PS3 - as much as i want to be good at the game, i suck. i practice, i play the arcade on easiest, and yet i still suck. but i'm not going to give up yet!

Astro Tripper - PS3 - was surprised that it had a update, but welcomed. still stuck on the last boss of the game...i'm further along killing it than i ever have been, but i'm finding it tough...but i've come so far and i won't be beaten. still a great cheap game.

Feel free to comment on anything i've played and what you yourself has played over the last week.

Star Trek Online Update - Oslo Class

Cryptic have updated their site with a new StarFleet Vessel, the Oslo Class.
the vessel looks very familiar to the Norway and Akira from Star Trek, but the site also mentions that it's similar to the Zephyr Class which is not a known class of Star Trek and is most likely a new Class for Star Trek Online.
Cryptic say the reason for the similarities is because "Starfleet Corps of Engineers championed a plan that called for modular ship designs, with components that could easily be switched out or replaced."

in their talk about the ship, they let slip a possible parts of the game mechanics, "The modular design allows ship's crews to be able to make more repairs in the field and enables salvaged components to be reused on a variety of ships. An added benefit of modular construction is that starships can be modified for specific missions or to accommodate crew needs." This backs up the customisation that the game allows of ships, giving a legitimate reason why it's possible, but it also hints at salvage missions, being able to salvage parts from a battle site.

This particular class is known as a Heavy Escort Class, limited medical facilities and scientific as well. it's not built for sustained attacks, but it's new weapons provide alot of clout. again, Cryptic might have let slip another game mechanic "...it will often work in concert with other ships that have improved sensor arrays and laboratories. Being able to coordinate with an engineering vessel will keep the Oslo fighting for longer than it could without such support, making it an ideal vessel for battle groups and fleet actions." perhaps hinting at how battles/missions can work with other people, being able to use their ships either to help another ship or to be that fighter amongst the science vessels.
