Sony Announce USA And Japan PS1 Games Are Coming To EU PSN Stores

Sony have announced USA and Japanese PS1 games are coming to EU PSN Stores as PS1 Classics. but, these games will either have an English or Japanese language on them and all the games will run at 60Hz and gamers will need a 60Hz TV to play them. Sony have said some games are already being readied for release but haven't said which ones they are. an example of a game that could be released, which was highlighted in the Blogs comments, was Parasite Eve. that game got a USA release but hasn't been released in the EU.

Sony say this now means that some games which didn't pass Q/A for a EU Release could be released if their USA/Japanese versions are out. there are of course limitations and Sony have made it clear that games which are not legally cleared for release in EU territories will not be released.

Press Release

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced it will unleash its eagerly-awaited PES 2012 title on October 14th for PlayStation®3, Xbox 360® and Windows PC, stating it is the most ambitious and advanced football experience ever.

PES 2012 goes further in giving the user total control than any other football title, offering AI innovations and gameplay additions that cover every aspect of real football. Central to PES 2012 is the all-new Active AI system which ensures that teammates work to close down space, defend zonally and hold their line to minimise attacking options. As such, as players defend, their colleagues will look to hold the defensive line and mark oncoming offensive support. Conversely, when attacking, the player will see that their teammates will make dummy runs, draw defenders, and work to give the player more options in attack.

Furthermore, the emphasis on the team as a unit is demonstrated with PES 2012’s ground-breaking Teammate Control system – a truly unique addition which allows the user to control two players at once, prompting runs or drawing defenders with one, while the other holds the ball up. Teammate Control works in two ways; with users pressing the right analogue stick in the direction of the player they wish to control. Support play is offered in Assisted mode wherein users prompt a second player to make a timed run to cut inside or receive a ball, while total control is afforded by the fully Manual mode which gives the user complete freedom of movement of the second player.

Elsewhere, PES 2012 is equally full of new additions. Animation has been enhanced, while the overall presentation has also been refined. Managers can now be seen wandering the touchline, while the general atmosphere of a big-match day has been faithfully recreated. In terms of gameplay, shooting movement and reactions are much improved, control is no longer totally lost when losing possession of the ball, a return to the classic ‘behind player’ penalty system, and one-on-one situations offer greater control as defenders press and jostle to win the ball, and attackers use upper body feints and movements to bypass and wrong-foot their man.

PES 2012 also continues KONAMI’s close relationship with UEFA that sees the PES series as the exclusive home of the UEFA Champions League™, UEFA Europa League™ and UEFA Super Cup™ video game licences. Attention to detail within these key tournaments has been extended to the match officials, and PES 2012 will see referees and their assistants now sporting the official UEFA Champions League™ uniforms.

“PES 2012 is a massive advance for the football genre, truly the most ambitious and advanced football game ever” claimed Jon Murphy, European PES Team Leader for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “The additions we have made in terms of Teammate Control, Active AI and Off the Ball Control and elevate the level of play to new heights. No other game allows users so much control over their team, and PES 2012 ensures that the days of gaps in defence and shouting at teammates to make a run are long gone. This is a very exciting time to be a PES fan, and we are delighted that we can set a firm date for football fans to mark in their calendars.”

KONAMI will detail the release dates for Wii, PlayStation®2 and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) versions of PES 2012 shortly.

What Have You Played This Week?

This ended up being another busy week for me, work wise. I did get some gaming time in here and there, but some of my usual games fell by the wayside.

Tiny Tower – iPhone – My tower is now 60 floors high and I have 110 residents.

Ratchet And Clank: A Crack In Time – PS3 – i've played a few more hours now. I still think it has taken a graphical drop but it feels like there's more action on the screen. A nice new touch is the flying parts, its been too long since i've played a space game and these sections help scratch that itch. The clank time stuff is interesting and works well, I just feel the tutorial wasn't as clear as it could've been. What helped in that tutorial was the other character showing how it was done. Some of the story appears to be missing, especially when you meet a friend of your fathers.

Dark Void – Xbox 360 – I played a bit more. There are moments in this game when it gets hard when the game throws several enemies at you. But after a couple of retries it's easy to get through them.

Puzzle Quest 2 – Xbox 360 – I dived back in and played for a hour or two. Its fun, and I made some more progress. I managed to forge the two hammer parts back together now.

Pocket Academy – iPhone – i'm a big fan of Kairosoft games and when I saw they had released a new one I quickly bought it. Their previous game, Hot Springs Story, was fine but this see's them back to Game Dev Story quality. So far i'm only in my 5th year of my first school. Like previous games you build up your thing, add more parts to it, and aim to get better. There are several additions this time with you being able to provide job advice for students, being able to send clubs into competitions, and more. It does start slow and money can be tight, but it was my first go and after the first couple of years it does get easier. I'm really enjoying it and i'm kinda hoping their Andoird racing game comes to iPhone soon. This game does not support game center.

Streets Of Rage – PS3 – I downloaded this a while back as i'm a PlayStation Plus Subscriber. I only played through the first couple of bosses but I enjoyed myself. I never played this game before on the Mega Drive, I may have played another game in the series but I can't really remember. I was surprised by how well it looks, the characters are large and their animations are clear. There is a good variety of moves and enemies to fight against.

Golden Axe – PS3 – This was another free game I got being a PlayStation Plus Member. I had a later version on the Mega Drive but this was my first time playing this one. It's short, I think I completed it in around 40 minutes. It's also very hard and I didn't enjoy the controls. It is free but still, I don't think it's worth many people playing it as they will find it very hard.
