This weeks Zero punctuation is on Alan Wake. Can Yahtzee, a fan of psychological thrillers like Silent Hill, possibly get scared...or will he be as disinterested in the game as he is with Stephen King Novels?

Atari Announce They Are Bringing Blade Kitten To The Xbox 360, Playstation 3, And PC This September
Atari have announced that they are brining Blade Kitten to the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC's this September. Krome Studios had originally announced they were brining Blade Kitten exclusively to the Playstation 3, but it now appears they were unable to do so and now Atari is going to publish the game on multiple platforms. Because of this move to multiplatforms, Blade Kittens original release date of spring has been moved back to September.
Blade Kitten is based on the comic book series created by Steve Stamatiadis. the game will still have 19 levels, but it is unclear if the game will still be the 2 part mini series that it originally was going to be. i imagine this will be cleared up nearer the games release. The trailer i have included is from the PS3 version of the game, when it was announced as a PS3 exclusive.
Press Release
NEW YORK, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Atari, Inc., one of the world's most recognized videogame publishers, announced today that they have acquired the rights to publish Blade Kitten, the videogame based on the comic book series by creator Steve Stamatiadis. Developer Krome Studios brings bounty hunter Kit Ballard to digital life with Blade Kitten which Atari will release this September for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®Network, and Windows PC Download at Atari.com.
"Bringing the anime-inspired universe of Blade Kitten to life via Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation®Network and PC Download is sure to resonate with gamers," says Jim Wilson, President and CEO of Atari, Inc. "With high-quality, colorful arcade action, which translates incredibly from comic book to videogame and a new spin on side-scrolling non-stop action to an already rabid platforming fan base of gamers on XBLA and PSN, we are looking forward to a successful launch."
Blade Kitten marks the latest creation by Mr. Stamatiadis, who is also the force behind the multi-million selling TY the Tasmanian Tiger series. In Blade Kitten, a prequel to the comics set three years prior, players are invited into the world of Hollow Wish where they take on the role of Kit Ballard, one of the best bounty hunters in the business. With her pink hair and tail, Kit is part cat, part girl - and fully lethal. As one of the last of her species, Kit commands her unique "Darque Blade" hovering sword to defeat enemies. Also along for the ride is Skiffy, Kit's laid-back sidekick who lends a hand in collecting items, solving puzzles, and when needed, serves as Kit's protector.
Blade Kitten goes beyond most downloadable titles to deliver a strong narrative, with high-quality cinematics, and a colorful, frenetic visual style, that lends to the pick-up-and-play arcade action. Players will jump right in and easily begin exploring and fighting their way through 19 levels, including three exploration levels with Noot (a rideable alien mount). Blade Kitten also features straight forward gameplay mechanics, intuitive "scramble style" exploration, fully voiced dialogue, dramatic narrative and powerful visual direction.

LONDON – 2 June 2010 - British developer Rare is to celebrate its 25th anniversary in the games industry this summer. Such a landmark provides a natural opportunity to reminisce over what has been a hugely impressive presence throughout that period, and to prepare for an equally influential future with a brand new look.
Throughout Rare’s lifespan, the world of videogames has morphed from the cottage activity of the ’80s into a thriving and vibrant entertainment industry, easily as significant as music and films in today’s market. Rare is extremely proud to have been at the forefront of this metamorphosis.
Now, as the company focuses its vision on an even more exhilarating future, the timing is perfect to introduce a distinctive new look. So Rare is thrilled to unveil its new identity, encompassing a brand new logo and branding soon to be extended to a full website relaunch at www.rare.co.uk.
The new logo is both modern and classic, adjectives that could be applied equally well to Rare itself.

EA Announce NBA Elite 11 For The Playstation 3 And Xbox 360
EA Have announced that the NBA Live series is now called NBA Elite. The first game with the NBA Elite moniker is NBA Elite 11 and it is coming to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this October. the new Control scheme and physics are just part of the evolution of the NBA Live series to NBA Elite.
The Hands-On Control scheme brings 1 to 1 responsiveness of a players movement and actions on court, whereas before the game would have predetermined animations, and it applies to everything within a players offensive and defensive arsenal. the new real time physics now means each player on the court can move independently of each other. the shooting system has also been overhauled, meaning the players location on court and user input have a great impact on shooting.
Press Release
GUILDFORD, UK., Calif. – 2nd June, 2010 – Electronic Arts Inc. (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today that NBA ELITE will be the new moniker of the long running EA SPORTSTM NBA videogame franchise. NBA ELITE 11 will revolutionize the way basketball simulation games are played, with an all-new technology base, a new control scheme and a real-time physics system. Currently in development for the PLAYSTATION®3 and the XBOXTM 360, NBA ELITE 11 will be available in retail stores this October.
“We plan to profoundly evolve the interactive basketball experience in a way that the category has not seen for a decade,” says Peter Moore, President, EA SPORTS. “In NBA ELITE 11, we’ll introduce a gameplay experience that gives fans the control on the court that they have been begging for in a basketball game for years.”
Using the design principles from some of EA SPORTS top rated franchises, NBA ELITE 11 introduces several significant gameplay changes that center around user control. The new ‘Hands-On Control’ scheme allows for one-to-one responsiveness of a player’s movement and actions on the court, as opposed to traditional predetermined animations that require users to wait while a scenario played out before making the next move. Hands-on Control applies to everything within a player’s offensive and defensive arsenal, including: dribble moves, dunks, drives to the basket, fadeaways, mid-air adjustments, blocks, steals and more.
The new real-time physics system in NBA ELITE 11 allows each player on the court to move independently of one another, removing the two-man interactions that have long taken the user control out of basketball simulation videogames. In addition, a new skill-based shooting system requires accurate user input, based on a player’s position on the court, versus the randomly generated dice rolls that have driven shooting in basketball videogames in the past.
“NBA ELITE 11 will give gamers the same skill set that a pro basketball player has at his disposal,” said David Littman, Creative Director, NBA ELITE 11. “This is the first basketball simulation videogame where you are controlling every movement, dribble move, shot, dunk, lay-up, steal and block in real time with one-to-one control. You’re no longer going to push a button and watch the computer generate a long animation sequence. It is like being on a basketball court with an amazing set of skills. This is going to change what people have come to expect from a basketball simulation videogame.”
“From the first day of development on this product, it was clear that we intended to pioneer a groundbreaking change in the basketball videogame segment,” said Jordan Edelstein, VP Marketing, EA SPORTS. “It’s a whole new game that warranted a brand new name to fully capture the transformation we intend to deliver in NBA ELITE.”
Electronic Arts has been releasing basketball videogames since 1983. The first game, titled One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird, was one of the first basketball games to feature real NBA players. The franchise was rebranded to become NBA LIVE with the release of NBA LIVE 95, a brand that has carried on for 16 years culminating in last year’s NBA LIVE 10. EA’s NBA-licensed franchises have sold more than 25 million units since 1995*.
NBA ELITE 11 will be available for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system with an MSRP of $59.99. It is developed by EA Canada in Burnaby, B.C. The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB or PEGI.
EA SPORTSTM is one of the leading sports entertainment brands in the world, with top-selling videogame franchises, award-winning interactive technology, global videogame competitions and breakthrough digital experiences. EA SPORTS delivers personal access to the emotion of sports through industry-leading sports simulation videogames, including Madden NFL football, FIFA Soccer, NHL® hockey, NBA LIVE basketball, NCAA® Football and NCAA Basketball, Fight Night boxing, EA SPORTS MMA and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® golf, and EA SPORTS Active.
