CHARLOTTE, N.C. --(Business Wire)-- Oct 15, 2009 Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates announced today that it has partnered with Activision Publishing, Inc. and its long-time sponsor Target® to feature the highly anticipated, critically acclaimed new interactive music experience, DJ Hero™, on Martin Truex Jr.'s No. 1 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Charlotte, North Carolina's Lowe's Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 17.
At the race, Target invites race fans to take DJ Hero for a spin 10 days before its launch at the Target DJ Hero station located on “The Fan Midway” across the street from Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Truex Jr. will test his DJ Hero mixing and scratching skills at the Target DJ Hero station on Saturday, October 17 from 3:30 – 4:00pm ET. The station, decorated to give fans a true party feel, welcomes race fans to enter and test their skills on numerous DJ Hero kiosks.
"Our partnership with Activision and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway offers race fans a sneak preview of the new DJ Hero game in a very exciting setting," said Mark Schindele, senior vice president, Target.
Truex Jr., in his sixth season driving the No. 1 Chevrolet for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, looks to head into Victory Lane with a bold new look, as Target, in association with Activision and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, will paint his No. 1 Chevrolet car in a special DJ Hero theme. Truex has a total of 147 starts in the NSCS, with one win, 12 top-five finishes, 34 top-10 results, and three pole awards. The Mayetta, NJ native made his mark in the NSCS after claiming his first pole award, seven top-five finishes, 14 top-10s, and his career first victory at Dover International Raceway during the 2007 season. The win “catapulted” Truex and his team into the “Chase for the Sprint Cup” where they finished 11th in the 2007 Championship Points Standings. Truex is a two-time winner of the NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship in 2004 and 2005. Building on success in both 2008 and his current NSCS season, Truex and team now look to bring home a first-place finish at Charlotte.
"Playing videogames has always been a favorite activity of mine, and I can't wait to get my hands on DJ Hero," said Martin Truex, Jr. "We’ve had some great partners on our Chevy this year, including two of Activision’s biggest hits, Guitar Hero®Smash Hits and Guitar Hero®5. They were both awesome, but I’ve really been waiting on DJ Hero to hit the shelves. I know NASCAR fans are going to love both the game and our car. Target and Activision have really helped to give my Chevrolet an awesome new look that is sure to turn some heads!”
